Weekly Wears: To the Ballet

Weekly Wears Weekly Wears Weekly Wears Weekly Wears Weekly Wears
I took the girls to the ballet a few weeks ago and wore this dress.  It's fun to get all dressed up with the little gals and do something fancy just the three of us.  This year we saw The Nutcracker and it was lovely.  Poesy's finally getting to an age where she doesn't wear down by intermission, so this was our most pleasant ballet date so far.

Coat: c/o Salvage Life;  Dress: c/o ModCloth;  Brooch: vintage (gift from Johnny);  Unicorn Clutch: c/o ModCloth;  Tights: Target;  Shoes: Jeffrey Campbell

I almost ended up wearing this dress on New Year's Eve as well.  Our band was playing a show that night, I was running late (of course), and was getting dressed when my zipper completely busted in the dress I was planning to wear.  Like, the metal zip part completely came off.  I didn't have time to entirely replace the zipper (again, I was running SUPER late) and I was freaking out.  I was hell-bent on wearing that dress, though, so I sewed up the entire side where the zipper was supposed to be, and shimmied my way into that dress.  Later that night, with some assistance, I had to be cut out of that dress.  Hey, man-- sometimes you just wanna wear the dress you planned on wearing.  ;)

  1. This is such a sweet look for going to the ballet! Man, I would have been so stressed if my dress broke before I was about to wear it, seems like you managed fine though. Good on you! x

  4. I love this dress, and it looks amazing with that pink coat and unicorn clutch. I think this is a gorgeous dress and would have been great for New Year's Eve, if you had no other choice. The story about your New Year's Eve dress is hilarious, and I can imagine that it must have been a gorgeous dress if you were that determined to wear it.

Love this post. You look like a mix between Natalie Portman and Mila Kunis in Black Swan. So beautiful.

  16. hahahaha oh dear, that sounds like an almost disaster... of course you would a) know what do to, b) actually have the things to sew it together.
