Snapshots

This week has definitely had its ups and downs.  I've been trying to find a home for our big move in September, and though I thought I found "the one", I was wrong and it ended up being someone else's future home.  That's okay, though.  Sometimes you think you know exactly what you want until you actually get what you want... even if you didn't know it at the time.  I'm hoping that's the case.

We have house guests all weekend, so I'm off to entertain... and eat waffles.  Because waffles and friends are just about the best things I can think of.  :)

Weekly Wears: Breezy Bows

Dress: c/o ModCloth;  Ice Cream Cone Earrings: c/o ModCloth;  Silver Clogs: c/o Lotta From Stockholm;  ET Necklace: Ebay;  Lacy Underthing: c/o ModCloth

I love, love the cut-out trend this summer.  Not only is it completely adorable, but it's also very functional, considering how warm it's been.
Ice cream cones, breezy dresses, hair up, and open toed shoes: hello, summer uniform.  Oh, and I'm pretty sure that red bow on the back of this dress is my favorite thing ever.

Have a great Thursday!

A Special Baby Shower

The girls and I headed to Springfield on Sunday for a very special baby shower for Stacy and Darren.  This was my first time taking both girls out of town by myself, and excluding a few extremely exhausting moments, everything went a-okay.  While Poesy walked around charming people with a pink marshmallow in each fist and a grin on her face, Hope worked the room in a different way-- sneakily shaking hands of every person she could, wearing her hidden trick hand-buzzer.  ;)

The shower was hosted by Elsie and Emma, so you can bet it was absolutely lovely and the treats were extremely tasty.  It was a very special day, and Darren and Stacy looked so happy.  I'm really glad we could make it.  :)

Weekly Wears: Little Black Dress

Dress: Mink Pink, c/o Lulu's;  Shoes: Shelly's, c/o ModCloth;  Shorts: Marshall's;  Barrettes: c/o Sea of Bees

The little black dress: every girl needs one, most girls have one... well, I actually didn't before now.  This is what I wore to the opera house last weekend.  It was a weird situation-- I was going to an opera house, but I wasn't going to the opera, and I had no idea what to wear.  Of course I was over-thinking it, but I'm guessing that many of you can probably relate.  I ended up choosing this dress because it can be dressed up or down, it's black (which I figured was safe), and really, I just like it a lot.  It is a bit on the shorter side, so I threw some shorts underneath just in case there were any balconies or stairs in my night's future.  I knew the best/final touch would be these Sea of Bees hair pins.  I love anything by Sea of Bees and I was ecstatic to wear these lovelies.

Oh, and in case you were wondering, I was pretty appropriately dressed.  Most gals I noticed were wearing dressy/casual dresses and the guys were mostly in collared shirts or button-ups.  Even if I would've been wearing ratty old cut-offs in a sea of tuxedos, though, I'm certain I still would have had a blast.

I hope you are having a wonderful week so far!

That Time We Got Away

Johnny and I really had an excellent weekend last weekend.  We saw friends, ate way too much food, attended an incredible concert, and laughed until our faces hurt.  It's one of those times where you wish you could freeze time and keep those special moments in your pocket for a rainy day.

We stayed downtown at the Sheraton, which was only a block away from Peabody Opera House, the place where we were seeing Fiona Apple.  When we got to town we did a very tiny bit of (rushed) shopping, had dinner and coffee with some friends, and promptly got ready for the show.

Somehow, this is the only picture I got of the two of us from the whole trip... and, as someone so sweetly pointed out on Instagram, I'm looking a little bit pregnant here.  I'm not.  Let's not get that rumor started.  It's just the combination of big dinner/bad posture/tight dress.  Oh boy.  ;)

Fiona Apple was amazing.  It was definitely a show worth seeing, and GEEZ... that girl can sing her heart out.  Gut wrenching in the best possible way.

The next day we had brunch at an adorable cafe on 12th Street and leisurely putzed around town.

It was a good trip, indeed, but there is nothing better than coming home after a couple days away.  :)
