I believe Art Feeds is such a sweet, special charity.  They need votes right now to potentially win $1 million for their cause.  Please read up on them herePlease vote here.

Gift Guide for the Family

This gift guide is sponsored by ModCloth.  Now that they have things for the guys, I could pretty much pick up something for everyone... and maybe a little something for myself as well.  ;)

Weekly Wears: Gingersnap

Dress: Dear Creatures c/o Emerging Thoughts;  Tights: We Love Colors;  Shoes: c/o Elf

Lovely dress: check.  Dream shoes: check.  I'm all set for my anniversary this weekend.  Actually, I'm eagerly anticipating it.  I don't know if you could tell, but I'm sort of a sentimental fool.  I can't wait for an extra special date with my best friend.  Love and marriage...  ;)

Have I mentioned this is my favorite time of year?  It really is.  :)

Out To Work

Going out of the house for work 3 days a week has really changed the clothes I've bought in the last couple of months.  I'm often hunkered down on the floor or covered in some project's mess (see here), so I've been trying to find that balance of comfy and functional while still feeling proud of what I'm wearing.  Plus, there's probably a chance that I used to get dressed for the day a lot less when I was just sewing at home.  ;))  Here's something I wore to work last week:
Sweater: c/o Emerging Thoughts;  Shorts (they look like a skirt, right?), Tights, and Shoes: ModCloth;  Scarf: vintage  (See how I also styled the shorts here and the shoes here.)

I typically wear clothes that I wouldn't mind seeing a paint splotch on here or there, but if I'm being totally honest, I probably would have been extra sad to see this sweater get messy.  I love it.  Sometimes you just have to be extra careful.  ;)

Bits of Thanksgiving

I hope you all had a great weekend!  Our Thanksgiving was wonderful-- we ate way too much delicious food (except Poesy, that kid ate NOTHING) and continued our tradition of building gingerbread houses and watching 'Elf'.  Getting family photos is always interesting... not only is it almost impossible to have everyone's eyes open at the same time, this year it was CRAZY windy!  Poesy is still in a "NO SHOES, NO SOCKS!" phase.  Just in time for winter.  ;))

We spent "Black Friday" holed up in our house, turning it into a winter wonderland.  I never go out on Black Friday-- it's just not my scene.  I always love hearing about everyone else's great finds, I just can't muster up the courage to do it myself.

How about you?  Did you brave the crowds and do any "Black Friday" shopping? Were there any amazing deals to be had?

Beauty From Rubble

Johnny and I have been together for exactly half of my life.  In all of those years, I could probably count the number of times both of our families have been in the same room, at the same time, on my two hands.  As many of you know, my step-dad passed away this year, and though it has been extremely hard on the family, I would like to think that it has ultimately brought us closer.  This year my family will be joining Johnny's family for Thanksgiving.  It makes me so incredibly happy to think about all of these people I love in the same house, enjoying each others' company and bonding.  My step-dad, JR, will definitely be missed, but I do have this something extra to be thankful for.  A new and beautiful relationship is growing.

Ornaments Are A-Comin'

I've been getting a lot of emails in the past couple of weeks asking if I'm doing ornaments again this year and the answer is YES!  I'm working at getting enough together to do a shop update at the beginning of December.

Speaking of ornaments, a very special lady celebrated a very special birthday yesterday and I thought I'd share what I made for her:
He's a blonde baby monkey.  Poesy kept trying to steal him so I had to wrap him up and get him put away quickly.  It looks like it's about time for me to make little Poe something furry and special.  ;)
(And just because I already got some of these questions on Instagram-- no, he's not wearing a diaper because she's expecting.  It's just cute.)
