April Showers// How Does Your Garden Grow

We've had quite a bit of rain over the past couple of weeks.  The rain has killed off some motivation for going places and making plans, but I love what it's doing for our green things.  The tiny green strawberries are so cute it hurts.  Hope and I planted cucumbers and herbs this week, so I'm excited to see how they grow in.  Oh, and the mint is going CRAZY.  I need to get on making some seriously minty drinks, stat!

Make A Bandeau From Old Leggings

Yesterday I was searching and searching my house for a bandeau to prevent an inevitable wardrobe malfunction.  I have a bunch, but I couldn't find any.  Anywhere.  I NEEDED one to wear under a specific dress, so I decided to make one.  I have a huge fabric stash, but sometimes it feels daunting to go through it all.  I was in a hurry... and maybe feeling just a little lazy.  Anyway, I found these tie-dye leggings that I wore maybe once and decided they would do.

I cut just below the elastic on the waist and just above the (ahem) crotch.  I tried it on, decided how tight it needed to be and then stitched a straight line there.  I cut off the excess and put it on.  It was that simple.  If you like a more finished look, you could definitely hem the top and bottom, but honestly, I don't care a bit about the rolled edges.

I'm probably going to end up doing this with all of my old leggings just because it's super simple and gives them new life.  Plus, I can never find the things when I need them, so it never hurts to have a few extra.  ;)

Weekend Bits

This weekend was a little bit different than most.  Somehow, Johnny and I found some quiet time during daylight hours on Saturday to lay in bed and watch a movie.  I know what you're thinking: "big deal."  Right?  Well, this might be one of two times this has happened since Poe has been born.  Hope was playing with a friend, Poesy was napping, and we were sitting around... until, suddenly, a lightbulb went off.  We could hang out together.  Weird.

Now, I am exaggerating a little bit for the sake of the story, but honestly, Johnny and I don't spend nearly enough time as just a couple.  We're both very busy with multiple jobs/side projects, on top of being a very tight-knit family, so the girls are almost always with us when there is down time.

After this small window of *quiet/zoning out/watching a movie bliss* together, we realized that we've been slacking.  Sunday, we decided to snag some more time together when the opportunity presented itself.  I made a big lunch and we went for a picnic in the park.  I love that when you are on a date with your best friend, it's not WHAT you are doing, but WHO you are with.  Although, I would never complain about a picnic.  Picnics are pretty much the best.

Coffee dates, lunch dates, movie dates... whatever the occasion, they are always a good reminder for us to do better at making "couple time" a priority.  Sitting down and having a conversation about... well... ANYTHING WE WANT can be pretty refreshing.  Plus, I kinda like him.  ;)

Weekly Wears: Hands Up

Dress: c/o Choies;  Sweater: Target;  Knee Socks: Target;  Shoes: c/o ShoeMint;  Hat: ChicWish

Whenever I wear this dress Johnny and I basically just do Toby quotes all day long.  If you don't watch The Office, I guess that means nothing, but if you do, you probably get the Scranton Strangler reference.  Beyond that, I think this dress is so adorable and different.  It's on the short side, but I just slip a pair of bike shorts underneath (you know... for any surprise gusts of wind) and I'm good to go.  :)

I hope you all are having a lovely week so far!  We have a family breakfast date in the morning and I CAN'T WAIT!  Breakfast is my favorite.

Tuesday, April 23

I have a new hair tutorial up on ABM (hair scarf from Three Bird Nest) // Johnny and I have officially become the same person now that we order the same drink // Little sleepy Poesy... such a sweetie // Spring has come... and gone... but will return.  I'm sure of it.

Happy Wednesday!

Out To Work

Shirt: Urban Outfitters (clearance!);  Jeans: Marshall's;  Necklace (my very favorite): Olivia Mew;  Shoes: c/o ShoeMint;  Headband: Under Those Neon Lights

I'm pretty sure I've worn some version of this outfit for too many days now.  I've been wearing more jeans lately.  I don't know if my style is evolving or I'm just sick of wearing tights ALL THE TIME, but  I have been finding myself in pants a lot.  That's not to say I'm turning on dresses.  I still feel most comfortable in a dress.  :)

Btw, how cute is this headband?  My sweet friend Ashley hand-beads these gorgeous headbands.  I'm totally impressed.

I'll be sharing more of our upstairs in the next week or two.  As you can see, I still have some work to do, but I'm ready to share our progress.

**You can see my other Out To Work outfits here.  Now, off to work!

Indoor Garden

Moss... swoon.  Moss is one of my most favorite things.  The texture, the color... it just makes me happy.  RedEnvelope sent me an early Mother's Day gift in the form of these darling planters equipped with moss.  A tiny moss garden of my own??  I'm totally and completely smitten.
