Picture Party

Recently, a very sweet Kansas City photographer named Allison Marshall came to town to snap a picture or two of me.  Actually, we had a whole photo shoot and it was a lot of fun.  The weather didn't quite cooperate the way we wanted it to (it was windy and COLD!), but it all ended up working out anyway!  Here are some favorites from the shoot:

(My green dress is vintage from LantanaVintage)

As you can imagine, playing a very loud accordion all dressed up on some railroad tracks next to a park might get you a couple of glances (hehe), but I did my best to set my embarrassment aside and tried to have fun with it.  I haven't had my picture "professionally" taken, except a small handful of times, so it was a pretty new experience.  True, I'm no stranger to being in front of a camera, but almost all of my photos are either shot by myself or Johnny (who has seen ALLLLL of my crazy faces), so I had to do my best to step out of my comfort zone a bit and just go with it.  Let's just say there was a lot of nervous clapping and fidgeting.  ;)

Anyway, Allison is a real sweetheart.  I'll have another set of photos to share from our time together very soon!  In the meantime, you should pop by her blog Live Laugh Wonder and say hello!  xo.

Playing Photographer

A couple of weekends ago I helped my friends Brittany and Summer (who is also the bass player in my band) shoot the Fall line for their t-shirt company, Culture Flock.  We rounded up a bunch of our friends on the hottest day of Summer (seriously) and pretended the weather was much cooler and we were much less sweaty.  ;)

I'm not really a pro photographer, but it's fun to help out friends when I can.  I was amazed at how dang photogenic our friends are.  They all did so well!  Oh, and if you are wondering-- just like outfit photos, Johnny shot all the pictures of me.  He has a little practice.  ;)

If you have a sec, pop over to Culture Flock and have a look around.  I love those girls to pieces!

Minnetonka Summer Lookbook

Minnetonka has just released a new lookbook and you can find me in there, along with some of your favorite bloggers.  These are some of the outtakes from the shoot.  The dress is from Lulu's and the shoes are Minnetonka (of course).  Minnetonka is also having a giveaway and you can hear the summer playlist we bloggers compiled right here.  Can you figure out which songs were my picks?

I hope you're having a good weekend!

Whew.

Whew.  We are FINALLY done packing things and moving them from the house.  Our friends have been SO AMAZING through all of this.  We seriously would be sitting in the driveway crying right now if they all hadn't pitched in the way they have.  If I were to start my "list of thanks" right now, they would be number 1.

So, as I mentioned last week, I went to Springfield two different times on top of my crazy week.  I had a couple of photo shoots with those Red Velvet gals-- here are some peeks from one of them (the other was for a magazine that won't be out until March).

(photos taken by Jeremy and Elsie)
True, I was busy, but who could pass up the opportunity to hang out in an airstream for part of the day?!  It was crazy windy and a ton of fun.  I may or may not have a tiny case of the airstream wants.  ;)  You can see more of the photos over on Elsie's blog!

If you have emailed me and haven't heard back, don't worry!  I'm taking the next two days to get all caught up!  I'm off to... not pack.  ;)  xoxo Katie

I Won the Suitcase Lottery!

That's right-- I hit the suitcase jackpot this weekend! I'm really excited about this, too, because I'm planning to convert a couple of these into shelving units. It will be so pretty! With all my suitcase love, I decided to do a cute, impromptu suitcase photo shoot.

In addition to some sweet flea marketing, I got to spend some wonderful time with this girl

(who is completely adorable so sweet!)

I told you we were going to see Where the Wild Things Are-- I don't know how you felt about it, but we LOVED it. Like, completely adored it. So many beautiful things to look at and lessons to be learned. It was great. I will say that I know it wasn't a favorite for everyone. One of my dear friends said she thought it was boring, and there was this grumpy lady standing outside the theater when we walked out telling people not to see it because "it wasn't good". Oooook. People and their opinions...

Anyway, I hope your weekend was just delightful. I have more things to blog about, but it's time for me to assist Hope and Johnny in building a semi-permanent fort in Hope's room. Loves and hugs from your friend Katie. :)

P.S. I got accepted into Renegade!
