Fall Days And Taking Breaks

Fall Days
The weather has changed here in Missouri-- helloooooooo, Fall-- and I've found myself taking an accidental break from blogging and most social media.  I am a chronic over-booker and I have a knack for keeping myself TOO busy.  I know this I have this tendency, but I keep accidentally doing the thing over and over.  Okay.  Maybe it isn't accidental.  Maybe it's something I've been super guilty of doing for a long time and I'm trying to work on it.  Remember that quote: "I can do anything but not everything"?  I'm still digesting that one.

Anyway, despite my kick-back when it comes to rushing the fall season, we've had many beautiful days that make me excited for the change of season.  We spend most of our Summer traveling for kid things or band shows or whatever, and it's just nice to feel HOME for a while.  One of the most beautiful things that has happened in the last couple of weeks is giving my 5 year-old a box and some markers.  This is the biggest reminder that beauty and imagination don't have to be complicated.  At all.  (Am I sappy enough for you right now?)

Fall Days Poesy's been playing in this box for most of the week.  I love it.  I love her imagination.  I love that the sweetest things can be SO SIMPLE if you just stop and enjoy what's around you.  I'm learning as I go, as are most of us, and (at least for me) this was a good reminder to just push pause when you need to.  Enjoy what's around you.  There is simple beauty everywhere.

We Made it to the Apple Orchard!

Apple Orchard 2015 Apple Orchard 2015
Now that fall is officially here, a visit to the apple orchard was a must!  We accidentally missed it last year and I was not going to let that happen again.  Here are some photos from our afternoon on the farm:

As per usual, Poesy chomped apples the entire time we were out there.  It was a really fun time and I love this fall tradition we have.  Now, let's see if we can make it to the pumpkin patch this year and we'll be golden.  Happy Monday, friends!

These Are The Days

Snapshots Snapshots Snapshots Snapshots
"These are the days."  Have you heard this saying?  I hope to say that proudly for my whole life.  I don't see it as a matter of boasting on how great your life is, but rather, a way to always be appreciating the season of life you're in.  These ARE the days, and down the road, those will be the days, too.  I believe it wholeheartedly.

These are just a few photos from a couple of weekends ago.  We went out to a winery with some friends for a folk music festival and the weather was perfect for it.  The girls danced about, Poesy went around petting every, single dog she could, and it was an all-around pleasant time.  It's getting cooler here and I'm pretty sure fall weather is leaving us, but I'm glad we took advantage of this day.  It was a good one for the books.

I hope you all are having a great week so far!  xo.

Passing On Traditions and BucketFeet

Fall Love
Man... I remember being a kid and eagerly anticipating that moment my mom would get all the leaves raked into one giant pile.  That first jump into the fluffy mound of leaves was one of the best parts about fall.  As an adult, I have a different kind of appreciation for fall (hot tea, knit hats, and baked apples), but I still love it as much as when I was much younger.  Being a sentimental so-and-so, I'm trying to pass that love on to my kiddos.  Sure, I'm not as good in the yard-work department as my mom was (I rake almost never), but spending time in the colorful outdoors is a must this time of year.

Hope-- Sweater: gift;  Jeans: Target;  Shoes: c/o BucketFeet

I don't wear sneakers as often as I probably should-- it takes a pretty snazzy pair to get me excited.  Our shoes from BucketFeet are definitely in that "snazzy/get me excited about sneakers" category.  They have over 10,000 artists in 35 different countries designing their footwear.  You can find styles for women, men, and kiddos, and their backstory is pretty interesting, too.  You can read about it here and meet some of the designers here, if you're interested!  They are a really neat company!

**BucketFeet is offering the first 25 Skunkboy readers to make a purchase 25% off their order with the code SKUNKBOY25.  You can see some of my favorite styles in the photo above.  Dots, Delta, Fat Sugar, Jason Atienza

Happy November, friends!  I can't believe it's here already!  xo.

Weekly Wears: Autumn Air

Weekly Wears Weekly Wears Weekly Wears Weekly Wears Weekly Wears Weekly Wears Weekly Wears
Our neighborhood is absolutely GORGEOUS right now.  We are surrounded by old homes with great big, beautiful trees and they are turning all kinds of fiery shades.  Thankfully the weather has been cooperating and we seem to be holding onto fall a little bit longer than past years.  It's glorious.

Coat: c/o ASOS;  Cry & Cry Shirt: Stay Home Club;  Striped Blouse: ASOS;  Jeans: Urban Outfitters;  Shoes: ABM for Swedish Hasbeens;  Bag: ModCloth;  Scarf: Vintage;  Glasses: BonLook (Dolled Up)

Hope has FINALLY committed to a costume (she never wants to participate in family costumes on Halloween) so I'll be spending the rest of my week collecting pieces and sewing different things for that.  I hope when she's grown these homemade costumes will be one of the ways she's reminded of how much I love her... because seriously, she decides on her costume the WEEK BEFORE Halloween every single year.  And I always bust it out.  ;)

I hope you are all having a great week so far!  xo.

Fall Vibes

wishlist
It's raining and cool here today-- the perfect fall weather.  We're ordering Thai food in and taking it easy for a few hours.  It's exactly what I needed after a crazy hectic week!

T-shirt  //  Necklace  //  Skirt  //  Shoes  //  Purse  //  Sweater  //  Tights

Our band has a show tonight and another show out of town tomorrow night, so I'm just going to soak in all the relaxing I can for the time-being.  I hope each of you has a fantastic weekend.  xo.

Welcome, Fall

Okay, okay... I'm finally ready to admit that I'm a little excited about fall.  The weather has been nearly perfect and we're back to enjoying nightly walks and dinner outside.  I know you were worried about it, so I thought I'd let you know.  (Kidding, of course.)

Hat: UO;  Dress: UO;  Shoes: Free People;  Bag: NastyGal;  Watch: Free People

These are some of my favorite fallish items I've happened upon recently.  That dress is probably going to find a home in my closet very soon.  I can't even think of a more perfect fall pinafore.  This week is flying by, but happy Wednesday, friends!  xo.
