New Projects for April!

DIY Bunny
Welp, it has been a week of radio silence here on the blog.  Why?  It's not because I've been too busy to keep up with posting, but because my darling dear Poesy accidentally kicked my laptop off of my bed.  Thankfully she just killed the screen.  I was afraid I had lost a bunch of files once again.  I'm here now on a loaner computer and playing a big round of catchup!

As I mentioned a few weeks back, I'm regularly contributing on ABM again!  I'm excited to get back to a more consistent schedule.  If I don't make time for that creative brainstorming, I often find myself in a creative funk.  Setting that time aside to plan and make is so important to me!

Anyway, here are a couple of the posts you can find over on ABM this month!

DIY Bunny
My theme for this month has been simpler, more practical crafts.  I am often guilty of being overly-ambitious when it comes to DIYs, so this first project was perfect for simplifying.  This bunny is "half-way homemade" meaning the doll was bought at a craft store and I went about customizing it.  She was a hit for Easter, but really you could make this doll any time of the year.  You could even switch out what type of animal you're making!

Statement-Wall-Hanging Simple Yarn Wall Hanging
Again, with the overcomplicating: when I first started this wall hanging, my plans for it were so unnecessarily involved.  Stepping back and allowing myself to use good old fashioned wood, yarn, and hot glue turned out to be something lovely to display in our home!  Actually, my craft group is getting together next week to make their own!  I'm so excited to do this with friends!

You can find the full tutorial for the Bunny DIY here and the Statement Wall Hanging here.  Happy Monday, friends!  xo.

Matchbox Dolls on ABM

DIY Matchbox Doll DIY Matchbox Doll DIY Matchbox Doll DIY Matchbox Doll
I have a fun little DIY over on A Beautiful Mess right now!  I made this matchbox bunny as a little Easter giftie, but created the pattern so you can sew this as a doll or any animal you'd like.  Save your old (large) matchboxes and make something darling for a kiddo you know!  You can find the full tutorial right here!

I hope your week is lovely so far!  xo.

Work Brain: Power Up

Lengthen Your Curtains Without Sewing
Well, I accidentally took a week off of blogging.  It was actually a nice little break, considering all of the family gatherings and general busy-ness last week brought.  Our family had a nice holiday, but I'll share more on that soon.  It's time to officially get my brain back into "work mode".

For now, here is a little DIY I shared over on A Beautiful Mess.  Our curtains needed a little more length in the new house, so I used some Stitch Witchery and crocheted trim to modify them.  You can find all the details right here.

Happy Tuesday, friends!  xo.

New Stuff on ABM!

I have a few new posts up over on A Beautiful Mess that I thought I would share here as well!

This wide headband tutorial is great as a last-minute gift idea!  Hope has already swiped all the headbands I made for myself.  ;)

Johnny and I worked together to make this sweet dollhouse for Poesy.  Last year I made the girls a play kitchen that they LOVED, so I'm hoping this special gift gets as much use!

This knot braid is one of my very favorite tutorials right now.  I'm going to practice making it into a crown for New Year's Eve!

Now to kick my last-minute Christmas shopping into high gear!  How is it getting so close already??

Family Halloween Costume DIY on A Beautiful Mess

It's become a tradition to put together a family Halloween costume, so this year we chose Peter Pan and the Lost Boys.  These are some of the extras from the shoot, but be sure to pop over to A Beautiful Mess and check out the full DIY and the rest of the pictures.  Janae is such a talented photographer and she really captured these costumes perfectly (in my opinion).

Happy Friday!!

It's Here: A Beautiful Mess Photo Idea Book!

I'm sure you've heard by now, but those A Beautiful Mess gals just released their first book!  It's chock full of fun photo prompts and inspiration!  I got my copy today, skimmed through, and now I'm really diving in.  It's such a happy, colorful book and I hope it stretches me to get even more personal and creative with my photos!  I couldn't be more proud of these beautiful, talented friends of mine.

A Beautiful Mess for ModCloth

I've already said how proud I am of my pal Elsie for her collection with ModCloth, but yesterday was the release day and I can't help but be so, so excited!  This is my favorite dress from the collection that I also got to wear for 3 Ways to Wear It.  Oh, and I'm sure there's a good chance you've already seen this, but this is how we spent the first day of Autumn this year:

I'm so happy and thankful to be a part of this team.

I Got Another Job.

I'm so excited to announce that I'm the newest team member over at A Beautiful Mess!  I'll still be busy sewing animals and blogging, but when your dearest friends offer you a job in a fun and inspiring atmosphere, you almost can't say no!  (I couldn't, anyway.)  Here's a peek at my first project:

I know this might seem a little confusing since I've been a contributor in the past, but now I will be working steady hours in the studio and making many more projects.  My first week has been tons of fun!

You can see the full tutorial and downloadable template here.  :)
