New Projects for April!

DIY Bunny
Welp, it has been a week of radio silence here on the blog.  Why?  It's not because I've been too busy to keep up with posting, but because my darling dear Poesy accidentally kicked my laptop off of my bed.  Thankfully she just killed the screen.  I was afraid I had lost a bunch of files once again.  I'm here now on a loaner computer and playing a big round of catchup!

As I mentioned a few weeks back, I'm regularly contributing on ABM again!  I'm excited to get back to a more consistent schedule.  If I don't make time for that creative brainstorming, I often find myself in a creative funk.  Setting that time aside to plan and make is so important to me!

Anyway, here are a couple of the posts you can find over on ABM this month!

DIY Bunny
My theme for this month has been simpler, more practical crafts.  I am often guilty of being overly-ambitious when it comes to DIYs, so this first project was perfect for simplifying.  This bunny is "half-way homemade" meaning the doll was bought at a craft store and I went about customizing it.  She was a hit for Easter, but really you could make this doll any time of the year.  You could even switch out what type of animal you're making!

Statement-Wall-Hanging Simple Yarn Wall Hanging
Again, with the overcomplicating: when I first started this wall hanging, my plans for it were so unnecessarily involved.  Stepping back and allowing myself to use good old fashioned wood, yarn, and hot glue turned out to be something lovely to display in our home!  Actually, my craft group is getting together next week to make their own!  I'm so excited to do this with friends!

You can find the full tutorial for the Bunny DIY here and the Statement Wall Hanging here.  Happy Monday, friends!  xo.

Matchbox Dolls on ABM

DIY Matchbox Doll DIY Matchbox Doll DIY Matchbox Doll DIY Matchbox Doll
I have a fun little DIY over on A Beautiful Mess right now!  I made this matchbox bunny as a little Easter giftie, but created the pattern so you can sew this as a doll or any animal you'd like.  Save your old (large) matchboxes and make something darling for a kiddo you know!  You can find the full tutorial right here!

I hope your week is lovely so far!  xo.

New On ABM

New on ABM
Somehow, we are already nine days into September.  While I rack my brain, trying to figure out how that happened so quickly, here's a little recap of some of the tutorials I've had over on A Beautiful Mess lately:

This 5-Minute Braided Bun (above) is a fun spin on a traditional bun!

Dining Room Peeks and "Eat A Rainbow" Print Download

Dining Room Dining Room
I've been working hard on our dining space these past couple of months, and you can see it over on A Beautiful Mess today!  There's also a tutorial for the chair covers and vinyl cushions I made.  (photos above by Sarah Rhodes)

Dining RoomAlso, I've been meaning to offer this "eat a rainbow" print as a download for a while now, so here you go!  I took this file to my local Kinkos and asked for a blueprint copy, and I think this print ended up costing around $12.

If you'd like to download it from my Flickr, just make sure you click the "original" size.

Happy Monday, friends!  xo.

New On ABM!

Here's what I was up to last month on A Beautiful Mess!

I shared a fun and simple way to spice up a ponytail with the CrissCross Ponytail technique!

I shared my recipe for making your own Grapefruit Mint Poppyseed soap!  We have been using this stuff like crazy-- it smells so good!

Elsie and Emma released a new e-course called "Blog Life" and I got to help Elsie out with a little  bonus video.  It's included with the e-course when you purchase.

I don't know how April passed by so quickly, but I have a whole list of projects to tackle for this month.  I can't wait to share!  xo. Katie

New Stuff on ABM!

(photos by Sarah Rhodes)
I have some new stuff up over on A Beautiful Mess, so I thought I'd share here as well!  I haven't stopped talky-talking about this Garden Box DIY since it went live yesterday, but I love it so much!  Even more than that, Poesy loves it so much.  Some of you saw a peek of it in her room tour from the other day-- now you can make your own if you want!

I did a post on making your own Dry Shampoo.  Hope said, "Are you gonna put that cinnamon in your hair?!"  Yep. I totally did.

I made a pattern for this traditional style rag doll.  Poesy is loving all of these kid's posts I'm doing lately.  "Is that for meeeeeee???  Aw, Mama, you are so nice."

A little bit of here, there, and everywhere, right?  If any of you ever make anything from my DIYs, I'd love to see! Please be sure to leave me a comment or Tweet at me or something!  I LOVE seeing photos on Instagram.  :)
Happy Wednesday, friends!
