Happy Monday, friends!  I have a new post up over on A Beautiful Mess!  I had the privilege of doing an Everyday Styling post where I break down my typical makeup and hair routine.  It was a really fun post to do, especially since I love talking makeup.

These oven s'mores from Jen of Jen Loves Kev looking AMAZING.  I am definitely making these soon!!

The winner of the iconemesis giveaway is:

**If you want a good laugh, you should definitely pop over to the Friendly Fox and check out Annie's "Big Jacob, Little Spaces" series.  Her kid is so darn cute & hilarious!

Etsy Weddings

Hi, friends!  I'm happy to finally be able to share that I have been working on some new hair tutorials for the new Etsy Weddings page!

It was a lot of fun and I'm happy to be a little part of it!  If you are interested, you can view them here and here.  Have a lovely Monday!!

A Little Bit of Here and There.

I just wanted to share a bit of where you can find me lately.  First of all, the new Red Velvet Collection is being released tonight (Monday) at 6pm CST.  I got to style this lovely dress, which has been so perfectly named the "bike ride dress" for a fun 3 ways to wear it post!

I have a new tutorial up on A Beautiful Mess.  A lot of you commented and emailed asking how I did the twist braids in one of my more recent outfit posts, so I did a little tutorial on it.  It's SO super easy!

I also have a little feature in Mollie Makes this month!  I can't wait to see it in person.  :)
The first round of dresses are up in the Reloved (or "shop my closet") shop!  Some of them will be hard to let go, but they should go to homes where they will be worn!

And finally, I wanted to announce that I'm doing an Easter shop update this year!  It will be small-- just some bunnies and some mounted deer, but it will be up by the end of the week (most likely).  I needed to break away from the customs for a little bit and just create.  I will let you know for sure when it goes live!

Happy Monday, friends!  I have an awesome giveaway coming tomorrow that I can't wait to share!

Victory Rolls

I have another hair DIY over on A Beautiful Mess-- this time I'm styling victory rolls.  If you give it a try or already wear your hair like this, leave me a link.  I'd love to see pictures!

Have a great Tuesday!!  xoxo Katie

Faux Bob

I did a fun little post over on A Beautiful Mess yesterday on how to style long hair into a bob.  It's a pretty convincing hairstyle... meaning, I may or may not have sent that picture to several people telling them that I cut my hair.  Good times.

(And just so you know, I love short hair... just not on me.  Why?  Because I end up wearing my hair in pigtails for two years straight due to laziness.)

You can see the full tutorial here.  If you have any questions pertaining
to this tutorial, you can leave them here and I'll do my best to help!
Happy Wednesday!  xoxo Katie

SkunkBoy
Most days I love my long locks, but sometimes they can have a mind of their own. I've been going to the beach and doing a lot of swimming in pools this summer and I wanted to find a cute way to wear my hair up that was simple and stylish. After fiddling around with my locks, I've created a topknot that I absolutely love!

Skunkboy
Begin by braiding three small, random sections somewhat near your hairline.

skunkboy
Taking either your hands, teasing comb or a bristled brush, tease your braids a little to give them a rough edge.
skunkboy
Roughly gather hair on the top of your head and create a messy HPT (high ponytail)

skunkboy
I like to pull some pieces of pull back hair to create a messier, carefree appearance.

Skunkboy
Grab your ponytail section and spray sea salt spray throughout. This helps create and hold texture giving your hair that summer/beachy style.

Skunkboy
Take threes to five SMALL sections from your PT and tease them a bit. Doesn't have to be fully teased. I'm just trying to create volume and the hair will be easier to bobby pin later. If you have finer, silkier hair, tease 5-7 sections at least.

IMG_8453
Take a few bobby pins and start pining hair in a circular motion around the ponytail. Feel free to twist section if you want to get extra creative with the look. Keep it loose and wild.

Keep going...

IMG_8461
Take a small section from the front of your topknot, braid, tease...

IMG_8468
and pin it back.

IMG_8478
Lightly mist hair with a flexible hold hair spray.

Then have fun accessorizing it!
Two of my favorites are the Neut headband and

the feather dangle. You can find them in our Bueno Bueno Shop.

Aaaaahhhh... I just love those Mucho Bueno girls! These are the last weeks of my "Friday is for Friends" posts. Thank you to everyone who has participated!

I'm leaving town (again) this morning to shoot my brother-in-law's wedding. I'm pretty nervous about it-- I never really liked shooting weddings in the first place (too much pressure), but now I'm really out of practice. Wish me luck!

xoxo Katie

P.S. The winner of the Cookoorikoo giveaway is Liz @ the blue eyed owl. Drop me an email, Liz, at skunkboycreatures@yahoo.com!!

Hair Tutorial on A Beautiful Mess

I'm sure most of you already know by now, but last week I helped Elsie share a fun tutorial for rag curls on A Beautiful Mess!  It was a lot of fun.  :)

Rag rolling your hair to make it curly has been around for ages!  It's such an easy way to get some major curls happening on your head, with little more than a good night's sleep.  Just remember, the tighter you roll your hair, the tighter your curls will be!  You can pop by Elsie's blog to view the full steps.  Happy curling!  xoxo Katie

Hair DIY: Favorite Way to Wear 'Em

My bangs are getting long.  I've promised myself that I won't cut them until after the summertime heat subsides, so I find myself pinning them a lot.  Here is my current favorite way to them:

See what I mean?  Long.
Bobby pins to the rescue!

It's oh-so simple!

Summer Hair DIY

Sometimes I feel like I spend Summer trying to figure how out to save my hair from the humidity.  Here's a style that pretty much kicks humidity's keester.

**First, separate the front part of your hair into one section and pin a piece of lace or ribbon right behind it.  Using the lace as one of your strands, braid the front of your hair and pin behind your ear.

**Take the remaining ribbon and wrap it around your head, and then again half-way.  Stop at the back and tie it up.

**After the lace is secured, separate the remaining hair into 2 sections.  Using bobby pins (and pony tail holders, if needed), pin up into messy buns.  When you're done it should look something like this:

This style is so great for humid days, dirty hair days (wink, wink), or just any old day you feel like wearing your hair up.  If you give it a try, be sure to leave me a link in the comments.  I'd love to see!
xoxo Katie
