I wasn't going to write out a Father's Day post, but the more I thought about it, the more it felt wrong not to. This will end up posting the day after anyway, but that seems fitting. My husband is an amazing daddy every single day, so taking one day out of a whole year to celebrate that would be a crime.
I haven't talked to my dad in about 12 years. He was always in and out, so it really didn't come as any surprise when we lost contact completely. My step dad raised us from the time I was about 9 or 10 on. I really didn't have a great relationship with him until more recent years (grandkids can fix a lot of problems), and as you may already know, he passed away a couple of months ago. I definitely have a lot of respect for my step dad these days, thinking back on all of the years he spent supporting our family and raising kids that weren't biologically his... how very selfless.
I have an incredible soft spot for good dads. There is nothing more attractive to me than a man who truly adores his child. I can say, without any doubt whatsoever, that my husband loves my girls to his core. He is an
amazing father, and I am beyond grateful to have found someone like him to fill that role in this family.
If you know a good dad out there, give him a high five. He really deserves it.
And, Johnny, I know you will read this because you read my blog almost every day. Happy Father's Day, buddy. You are totally and completely awesome, and our girls adore you.
