Weekend Snaps

Weekend Snaps Weekend Snaps Weekend Snaps Weekend Snaps
We had a pretty eventful weekend this weekend.  My friend, Jess, came to town from Atlanta and stayed with us, so we did our best to show her more Springfield goodness that we didn't get to the last time she visited.  There were brunches and plant shopping and karaoke and lots of food and gatherings and, well, you get the general idea.  Here are some peeks at our weekend:

We did as much family stuff during the mornings and days as possible, but we went out for the grand opening of The Golden Girl Rum Club and karaoke one night, and then Johnny and I played a show with our band the next.  Luckily, my girls adore their babysitter, so no one (mainly Poesy) was too upset that we took Jess with us.  ;)

It was a fun (extended) weekend, and now I'm ready to get back to the daily grind!  Happy Tuesday, friends!!  xo.

Life Lately

Life Lately Life Lately Life Lately Life Lately Life Lately Life Lately Life Lately Life Lately Life Lately Life Lately
Lately, life in the Shelton home has included lots of friend time, parties, outdoor excursions, library trips, movies, and treat days.  Right now I'm soaking up this time before it gets truly hot here in MO (old house problems) and remembering to step back and really enjoy this life we have... especially when I feel bogged down by work or life stress.

Here's to a solid Monday... and maybe a cocktail at the end of the day.  ;)

A Weekend Well Spent

Spring Ballet
This weekend was nothing short of jam packed and wonderfully wonderful.  Typically after a weekend of multiple shows and juggling home life/work life, Mondays always feel like they've come too soon.  Fortunately, this past weekend was energizing (and exhausting) and extremely positive.  I love it when it works out that way.

The photo above is technically from Thursday, but I had the pleasure of taking the girls to the ballet to see Snow White.  We actually went to the dress rehearsal, since our weekend was booked, but we got dressed up any way and really enjoyed ourselves.

Friday and Saturday looked like this.  The Mixtapes road tripped out of town for a show and stayed over night on Friday.  The next day, we went to thrift stores and explored the town, then rushed back home to get ready for a show in Springfield that evening.  By the time our set was over, we were ready to collapse and scarf pizza... which is exactly what we did.

Poesy playing "Mario Down the Drain" Lovely plants
Sunday was for getting the girls back from the grandparents and relaxing.  Poesy is newly into video games (she calls it "Mario Down the Drain") and it's pretty fun.  I remember that feeling as a kid-- waiting for the second your mom says it's okay to pull out the Nintendo.  Pure bliss.

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend!  Did you do anything exciting?  Did you spend your weekend relaxing?  I'd love to hear what you were up to!  xo.

I forced myself to carry my camera around with us this weekend, and I'm really glad I did.  I told you about how this photo re-inspired me to get back to photographing our everyday life, and I'm super thankful for that.  We had a full and fun weekend with the girls.  This was our first weekend off from playing shows in about 6 weeks, so we had lots of fun weekend-y activities to make up for.  More than anything, it was just nice being able to do whatever we wanted at any point.  We haven't had that kind of time together in far too long!

*Poesy helping Hope with part of her school work... dressed as princesses... because why not?
*Ice cream date at a place we FINALLY tried and then found out they're closing at the end of the month.  Boo.
*Poe tasting my ice cream while simultaneously tasting hers.  She knows what's what.
*We had breakfast at a pretty patisserie Saturday morning with an out of town friend.
*Poesy crashed the music at the farmer's market with some serious dancing.  Thankfully our friend Dallas didn't mind at all.  ;)
*The weather was amazing on Saturday so we headed to the park.  I was wearing my favorite Stay Home Club.
*This is pretty much what the weekend was.  Dancing, jammies, too much food, movies, and the good kind of nothing.  It was pretty perfect.

Now, back to work for me.  I feel refreshed and ready to take on the week.  Happy Monday, friends!

Weekend Wishes

Happy Weekend
Here's to a really wonderful weekend, friends!  We've got back-to-back shows this weekend, mixed with a fun Oktoberfest at our favorite local brewery and a fun party with our pals, so it's shaping up to be quite an eventful weekend.  Whatever you end up doing, whether it's working or hugging your cat or reading in the quiet, I hope it's great for you.  Happy Friday!  xo.

We had another beautiful/crazy weekend.  Johnny and I went floating and camping with some friends before the weekend even started, so it felt like an extra long one.  We ended up being so busy the rest of the weekend with projects and a very special wedding, that I took an accidental break from the internet.  I still used IG, but Sunday night when I opened my computer, I realized that I hadn't really touched it in 3 or 4 days.  It was a nice little break.

The wedding Saturday was one of those amazingly special nights where you wish you could snap all the pictures and hang onto the feelings forever, but it's better to just put your camera down and soak up all the magic you can.  It leaves you feeling lovesick (in the good way) and inspired for days.  So many congrats to our best friends, Summer and Brittany!

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend!  I can't believe it's Monday already!  xo.
