Summer Hair DIY

Sometimes I feel like I spend Summer trying to figure how out to save my hair from the humidity.  Here's a style that pretty much kicks humidity's keester.

**First, separate the front part of your hair into one section and pin a piece of lace or ribbon right behind it.  Using the lace as one of your strands, braid the front of your hair and pin behind your ear.

 **Take the remaining ribbon and wrap it around your head, and then again half-way.  Stop at the back and tie it up.

**After the lace is secured, separate the remaining hair into 2 sections.  Using bobby pins (and pony tail holders, if needed), pin up into messy buns.  When you're done it should look something like this:

This style is so great for humid days, dirty hair days (wink, wink), or just any old day you feel like wearing your hair up.  If you give it a try, be sure to leave me a link in the comments.  I'd love to see!

Pretty Hair: Week 3

I've been a super slacker at this "Pretty Hair" stuff, and really the only reason I'm doing another one of these posts is because some of you asked how I did my hair in the "Weekly Wears" post.  I'm just so lazy when it comes to fixing my hair!  Anyway, I did a little video to demonstrate.  It's super easy and stays all day, which is especially awesome when I'm walking around with dirty, second day hair.

(I forgot I had iTunes going, so you got a little music bonus.  The song I was listening to was by Dawes.)

There you have it!  It's super easy, right?  All you need is couple of ponytail holders, some bobby pins, and hands to make little buns.  :)

Pretty Hair: Week 2

I wasn't quiiiite as successful this week with my hair fixins.  I started going through YouTube videos, but it was pretty overwhelming, so I gave up quickly. 

This one was easy- I just twisted little bun thingies in a messy manner.  (Those bangs-- seems like they always need trimmed!)

Braids-- I definitely needed to fluff these out a bit more to give them a fuller look.  Next time!

Pretty Hair: Week 1

 I've decided to name this great hair experiment "Pretty Hair".  Here are a couple of pictures of my hair effort from this week:

I haven't ventured out into the world with the milkmaid braids like I had planned... I feel a little too much like a... well... milkmaid.  I'll have to try again soon, I guess.  ;)  I'll be back tomorrow with my first Music Monday post in forevvvvvvver!  For now:  working on custom wedding cake toppers.  xo Katie

The New Hair Venture

I just (finally) decided on a New Year's resolution last week.  I am going to make an attempt to "fix" my hair more.  Not just wash and blow dry, but actually style.  I've gotten so lazy about this for some reason!  So far it's going well, but I'm in the first week of it.  I'm thinking some hair inspiration is in order:

Danielle posted a cute video for milkmaid braids today, and I think my hair might finally be long enough!  I'm cursed with very thin, slow-growing hair... I find myself constantly envying girls with thick locks.  The grass is always greener, huh?  Anyway, I'll do my best to document this new venture.  Are there any other style you can recommend to me?  I definitely need ideas!  xoxo Katie

Fire Head

So, a lot of you know that I had my appointment today. I am officially a red head. I like it. Scratch that, I love it. It is a little bit darker than what I had in my head, but pretty all the same. I am currently avoiding all friends and family, because I hate all the attention everyone wants to pay when you change something. One really good thing is that I have green eyes, so this color makes them even greener. :)



In less narcissistic news... (just joking around...) I'm in love with the deer ornaments. I decided to keep them simple, and I think they are just perfect for it. Right now I only have the ladies done, but I will be starting the gentlemen tonight. They will be cute little couples (although, they will be sold individually). I'm going to start making one or two extra of all the ornaments I've been working on, and posting them in the shop. That way everyone gets a chance at one. Someone snagged the lion today... :)

Hair...

Hair is that love/hate thing. You get a new cut or color, then after a bit you are ready for a change. I don't know if you remember, but my hair was dark a year ago:


Then I did this:


I've been growing it and growing it, and now we are about here:


But, growing hair out is sooooo hard! I just want to cut something, or color something, or... SOMETHING!!! So this is what I'm thinking:   Red!
