Who Wants Bonus Projects?

Infinity Scarf Table Runner via Sew With Us Ecourse
Hooray for bonus projects!  Rachel and I just just added two SIMPLE projects to our Sew With Us ecourse-- a simple infinity scarf tutorial and an easy table runner tutorial!  If you aren't familiar with Sew With Us, basically it's a learn-at-your-own-pace ecourse.  It is designed to teach basic sewing skills such as threading your machine and straight stitches, all the way up to designing your own clothing patterns and installing buttonholes, zippers, etc.  We want to take the intimidation out of sewing with simple projects for home and fashion!  Here are some examples of projects:

Sew With Us
*Simple maxi skirt with elastic waist

Sew With Us Projects
*Learn to sew on a curve and add piping

Sew With Us
*Sew a half apron with pockets

Sew With Us Projects
*Sew a pyramid bean bag

Sew With Us*Sew a blouse with an exposed zipper

There are lots more projects, but these are just a few examples.  Rachel and I poured a lot of ourselves into this ecourse (which you've probably heard me talk about in the past) and I'm happy to share our bonus projects with you guys!  If you've already purchased the ecourse, the new tutorials are in there waiting for you.  If you'd like to learn a little more about our class, just click right here!

Happy stitching, friends!

Time For Spring Dress Sewing!

Tilly and the Buttons
When I was co-writing my sewing ecourse with Rachel, I had the pleasure of e-meeting Tilly of Tilly and the Buttons along the way.  Not only is she the absolute sweetest, but she creates colorful, easy-to-follow patterns.  One of my sessions was about reading commercial patterns and I made her Coco dress.  As someone who doesn't do a ton of commercial pattern sewing (I love creating my own), I really enjoyed this one.  Here's how my version of Coco turned out:

Even though reading patterns can be intimidating at times, Tilly breaks it down and even gives tips and tricks for techniques you may not be completely familiar with... which is always appreciated in my world.

Tilly has just released a new pattern and I seriously can't wait to try it out!  It's called Martha and I've already been shopping for all the cute trims and embellishments for those BELL SLEEVES.  Aaaahhh!  I'm in love.

As you can see, I'm becoming a collector of Tilly's patterns.  I'm pretty sure I have around 7 of them, plus her book.  My goal is to get started on Martha sometime this week, but first I need to find the perfect fabric!  Oh, and clear my sewing space because maaaaaayyyyybbbeeeee I haven't quite unpacked that room yet.  Oof.

If you are interested in getting better acquainted with your machine, or are brand new to sewing, you should check out Sew With Us.  Rachel and I put a lot of hard work into it and we're still so proud.  Plus, there are fashion projects AND home projects!

Also, Tilly has a really great book called Love At First Stitch.  It's beautifully photographed and comes with patterns and tips!  I personally love it.

Happy sewing, friends!

Make A Little Something For Yourself Sometime

Dress Making Dress Making
Here's a little peek at what I'm working on this week.  I snagged this lightweight cotton fabric (first photo) many months ago, waiting for the perfect time to use it.  (I'm a fabric hoarder, what can I say?)  When I ran across the Lilou Dress from Tilly's book, Love At First Stitch, I knew that would be just what the doctor ordered.  I plan to use the scalloped neckline hack because it's just so sweet!  I can't wait to show you guys my "after" photos!  It feels good to get some sewing in.  I haven't really sewn much clothing since Rachel and I wrapped up our ecourse, Sew With Us, and I've been itching to make a little something for myself lately.

I'm off to get sewing.  Happy Tuesday, friends!

Sew With Us Ecourse is Here!!

Sew With Us
Rachel and I have been working for months on our sewing ecourse (heard me mention it once or twice?) and it's finally available!  I'm so excited to help people learn to sew their own clothing, and Rachel's home projects are just beautiful!  You can check out the course right here if you are interested.  Here are a few peeks from some of my lessons:

*Sigh* That non-traditional kimono is still my favorite.

The Sew With Us ecourse is on sale for $30 right now (from $45).  I have to say, wrapping up a project this large has me feeling pretty giddy.  If you are interested in sewing, but haven't really taken the plunge... or, if you have dabbled, but are feeling a bit rusty, this course is for you!

Now, excuse me while I run off to do a happy dance!  xo.

Feature Friday: Baby On The Way

No, no... I do not have a baby on the way.  Let's just make that VERY clear.  I love my baby to pieces, but no more babies for Katie.  I'm talking about my friend Rachel's new e-course "Baby on the Way".  I've had the pleasure of seeing it first hand and I have to say, it's SO good!  I'm not just saying that because I love the gal, either.  It really has so many great projects!  My favorite part about this e-course is that it's not just for expecting families.  I plan on doing most of the projects for Poesy, and maybe a couple for some extra special baby gifts for friends.
Before I dove in I was feeling a little intimidated by all of the sewing that I thought I would need to do, but the projects are ones that I feel I can tackle... which is saying a lot for me, because I am pretty good these days at the hand stitching, but I am no expert when it comes to the sewing machine.

Anyway, I thought this course was so sweet that I wanted to share.  I'm pretty excited about the baby Christmas gifts I'll be sewing up this year.  Watch out, Poesy... mama's going for a handmade Christmas!  ;)

I hope your weekend is just wonderful, friends!  xoxo Katie

P.S.  I keep forgetting to announce the giveaway winner, so here she is:

P.P.S.  Did any of you see the end of that baseball game last night?  It was way too intense for me, but I'm glad the Cardinals won.  It makes my husband very happy.  ;)
