Weekly Wears: Pants Dance!

What's that?  Oh... why, YES!!  I am wearing pants!  I know, it was weird for me at first, too.  I don't wear jeans very often, but I borrowed these high waisted beauties from Elsie and immediately fell in love.  They kinda make me feel like I should be on "That 70's Show" and I kinda like it.

Shirt: vintage;  Jeans: J Brand (borrowed from Elsie);  Necklace: Fever Few;
Belt: thrifted;  Purse: ModCloth

I know this shirt has popped up in several outfit posts, and to answer your question-- Yes, I do wear it as much as it seems.  I usually wear it at least once a week... sometimes it's more like 3 times a week.  I don't know what is about this old raggedy shirt, it's just one of my very favorites!

Oh, and 3 cheers for new spectacles!  I just got 2 new sets of glasses and I love being able to see without wearing sticky contacts all of the time!

Have a great Thursday, friends!  xoxo Katie

Baby Talk

When Hope was a baby someone gave her a book called "Baby Signs For Mealtime".  She thoroughly enjoyed the pictures of the little babies, so it became a regular read in our house.  Not knowing what to expect, we starting playing around with the signs in the book and one day she just started doing them.  It was amazing!  It made communication so much easier, especially since she was such a late talker.

Fast forward nine years, and we are experiencing this all over again with our second little gal.  We weren't sure what to expect with Poesy either, but she has taken to signing like a pro.  She can communicate "eat, drink, more, please, bird, up, down, all gone" so far.  :)

(Oh, and you might notice in this first picture, someone has been perfecting her angry eyes...)
(after we got through these signs, she was done ;))

It helps so much with the frustration of knowing what she wants, but not having the words to tell us.  Babies are such fascinating creatures.  I'm blown away every, single day.
Do you use sign language with your baby, or know someone who does?
xoxo Katie

Weekly Wears: How Does Your Garden Grow

I found this maxi dress at a cute shop last week.  It was too long and the sleeves were too tight, but the fabric was lovely enough to convince me to take it home.  There were a few different options for this dress, but in the end i decided to shorten it and open up the sleeves a bit.  I know that hemming a dress isn't a super big deal, but I did it verrrrryyyy carefully because I was terrified of messing up such a lovely piece!

 Dress: vintage;  Tights: Target;  Shoes: Golden Ponies via Etsy;
Necklace: gift from my MIL

It's quickly becoming one of my very favorite dresses!  I spent the rest of that night hemming and taking in other dresses-- I've got quite the growing collection of *almost* perfect vintage pieces that don't *quite* fit me in all the right places.  Which reminds me...

Here's a tip:  after you have a baby, don't spend a bunch of money on new clothes because you're excited to wear pretty things again.  You may just keep shrinking (which I'm not complaining about) and end up with a group of amazing dresses that look terrible on you.  Do buy a few things and love yourself in them, but don't do what I did.  Why am I saying all of this?  Well, it's the long way around letting you know that I will be doing another "shop my closet" in the next week or two.  This round will be some really great pieces, so I'll be sure to keep you updated in case you are interested in snagging anything.

Have a great Tuesday!  xoxo Katie
