Weekly Wears: An Apple A Day

Remember that wedding I mentioned last week?  Oh, boy.  Don't get me wrong, the wedding was beautiful and it was wonderful to get to see that part of my family two weekends in a row, but I had an almost-catastrophe!  We got into town a day early and did some shopping, a lot of eating, and a tiny bit of swimming.  We were getting ready to head over to the wedding the next day and as I was digging through my bag when I realized that my dress was missing.  MY DRESS WAS MISSING.  I had packed everyone else's fancy clothes except for my own!  I freaked out a little (surprisingly less than I would have anticipated) and threw on one of the dresses I had bought the day before.  I was under-dressed in an over-sized sundress (I bought it knowing I had to take it in a bit), but I set all that aside and just enjoyed myself.  It could have been worse... I could have showed up to that wedding in the jeans or the bright red polyester dress I had in my suitcase.  ;)

Dress: c/o ModCloth;  Shoes: Shelly's London c/o ModCloth;  Belt: thrifted;  Barrette: Etsy

This outfit doesn't have anything to do with that wedding.  ;)

I seriously love these shoes.  I'm also picking them up in pink, because they are kinda my dream shoe.

I hope you all are having a wonderful week so far!!

Weekly Wears: The Great Hunt

I have been searching for the perfect (for me) maxi dress for what seems like forever.  I've been wanting something with a lovely print, something cotton for summer, and something with full coverage in the front (no triangles).  Welp, it's been a journey, but I've found it.  This dress meets my requirements and scores big in the pretty category!

Dress: vintage from The Kissing Tree Vintage on Ebay;  Denim jacket: really old;  Shoes: Saltwater Sandals;  Sunglasses: Target;  Spyglass Necklace: c/o Unexpected Expectancy;  Amethyst Necklace: Camp and Quarry (gift from Elsie);  Scarf: c/o Three Bird Nest

The girls and I all got Saltwater sandals for Easter.  Picking a color for each one of us took forever because there are so many good ones, but I'm seriously loving them.  They were a little tricky because the little sizes run large, but my size and Hope's size were pretty true to size.  Ordering the next pair will be easier now that I know... and yes, there will be a next pair.  ;)

Tell me, have you conquered any great clothing searches lately?  It feels so good!

Weekly Wears: Pants Dance!

What's that?  Oh... why, YES!!  I am wearing pants!  I know, it was weird for me at first, too.  I don't wear jeans very often, but I borrowed these high waisted beauties from Elsie and immediately fell in love.  They kinda make me feel like I should be on "That 70's Show" and I kinda like it.

Shirt: vintage;  Jeans: J Brand (borrowed from Elsie);  Necklace: Fever Few;
Belt: thrifted;  Purse: ModCloth

I know this shirt has popped up in several outfit posts, and to answer your question-- Yes, I do wear it as much as it seems.  I usually wear it at least once a week... sometimes it's more like 3 times a week.  I don't know what is about this old raggedy shirt, it's just one of my very favorites!

Oh, and 3 cheers for new spectacles!  I just got 2 new sets of glasses and I love being able to see without wearing sticky contacts all of the time!

Have a great Thursday, friends!  xoxo Katie

Weekly Wears: How Does Your Garden Grow

I found this maxi dress at a cute shop last week.  It was too long and the sleeves were too tight, but the fabric was lovely enough to convince me to take it home.  There were a few different options for this dress, but in the end i decided to shorten it and open up the sleeves a bit.  I know that hemming a dress isn't a super big deal, but I did it verrrrryyyy carefully because I was terrified of messing up such a lovely piece!

 Dress: vintage;  Tights: Target;  Shoes: Golden Ponies via Etsy;
Necklace: gift from my MIL

It's quickly becoming one of my very favorite dresses!  I spent the rest of that night hemming and taking in other dresses-- I've got quite the growing collection of *almost* perfect vintage pieces that don't *quite* fit me in all the right places.  Which reminds me...

Here's a tip:  after you have a baby, don't spend a bunch of money on new clothes because you're excited to wear pretty things again.  You may just keep shrinking (which I'm not complaining about) and end up with a group of amazing dresses that look terrible on you.  Do buy a few things and love yourself in them, but don't do what I did.  Why am I saying all of this?  Well, it's the long way around letting you know that I will be doing another "shop my closet" in the next week or two.  This round will be some really great pieces, so I'll be sure to keep you updated in case you are interested in snagging anything.

Have a great Tuesday!  xoxo Katie

Weekly Wears: Sheer Love

My newest love is anything sheer.  I love dresses and shirts with sheer sections-- it adds just a bit of fancy to whatever you're wearing.  Or, I guess I should say that it makes me FEEL fancier... and, if I'm being totally honest here, I have to admit that I LOVE a little bit of fancy.  ;)

Shirt: c/o ModCloth;  Skirt: the Velvet Bird;  Tights: Target;  Shoes: c/o Lotta from Stockholm;  Roses clip: c/o Oh My Deer

In other news... How I Met Your Mother is streaming on Netflix and I can't stop watching.  I love that show.  It's also nice to have something to keep me company during nighttime stitching.  ;)

I hope you all have a wonderful Thursday!

Weekly Wears: You're The Storm

I can't remember if I've mentioned this before, but I have a little bit of a coat thing.  They are one of the reasons I love winter and fall so much.  "Is it a little brisk today?  I have a coat for that!"  I'm sure plenty of you can relate.  Oh!  And when a coat has pretty lining... well, that's just the icing on the cake.  *swoon*

Coat: c/o Emerging Thoughts (it's on sale, too!);  Dress & Shoes: c/o Lulu's (see how I styled the same dress here);
Scarf: thrifted;  Tights: c/o Tabbisocks;  Bracelet: c/o Poshlocket;
Dala Horse (which is actually a brooch): c/o Electric Elephant

Do you have an collections (obsessions) in your closet?  Tell me about them!

Weekly Wears: Movie Moment Dress

ModCloth has recently started carrying several different Eva Franco dresses, and quite frankly, I'm smitten.  I was asked to style this pretty heart-covered dress (which is PERFECT for Valentine's Day) while here in Florida.  This dress is so cute as is, or would be just as darling with a lovely cardigan and clutch for a special night out.

Dress/belt: Eva Franco Movie Moment Dress via ModCloth;
Heart Headband: Giant Dwarf (borrowed from Elsie);
Shoes: Swedish Hasbeens;  Necklace: handmade

This is THE BEST dress to twirl in.  You know... in case you're that kind of girl.  ;)
Have a lovely Thursday!  xoxo Katie

Weekly Wears: BananaRama

Have you ever had a pair of tights that you plan your whole outfit around?  Yep.  I adore these tights.  My husband (who knows me oh-so well) got these for me for Christmas, and they immediately shot to the top of my "most fun to wear" list.  Sure, I get some sideways glances from older ladies when I'm out and about, but I really don't care.  I just wear what I love.  It makes me happy.

Dress: vintage from Red Velvet;  Sweater: old old old;  Tights: ModCloth;
Shoes:  c/o Lulu's;  Necklace: handmade (Hope has the other half of the bf)

So... we are leaving for Florida today (yay)!  I still haven't packed or anything, so I'm off to do a whole lot of that right now!  I will still be blogging while we are on vacation, so you'll get to see peeks of our fun time.
Have a great day!  xoxo Katie

Weekly Wears: Colorblock

I love this dress.  I'm not normally a drop-waist sort of girl, but when I first laid eyes on this little number it was love at first sight.  The material makes this dress actually work for me.  If it were a stiff material it wouldn't fall where it needs to, but since it's so flowy/silky it doesn't create that typical box shape on me.  Have I mentioned I don't wear drop-waists?  I guess I stand corrected.

Dress: c/o ModCloth;  Shirt: UO;
Knee Highs: Target;  Shoes: Golden Ponies

Have the loveliest day, friends!  xoxo Katie

Weekly Wears: Spread the Cheer

This week's Weekly Wears is all about spreading the cheer!  ModCloth has focused this month on spreading the cheer by hand delivering gifts to customers in the Pittsburgh area AND handing them a $50 gift certificate for themselves AND one to share with a friend!  Now that would make me cheery!

They have also sent out dresses to four bloggers and those bloggers got to pick a friend to spread the cheer with.  My sweet, beautiful friend Elsie chose me, so here I am styling my very lovely, fancy dress from ModCloth!  (Cheer!)

Faux fur wrap: thrifted (with tags still on. Yay!);  Tights: Marshalls;
Shoes: Golden Ponies via Etsy;  Starlette Sparkler: Giant Dwarf

I LOVE focusing on spreading the cheer during the holiday season, rather than getting wrapped up in stress and negativity over shopping and finding deals and parking spots (!), etc.  Let's take this giving spirit and implement it throughout the rest of the year!
Thank you, Elsie and ModCloth, for spreading the holiday cheer this direction!
xoxo Katie
