A Pumpkin Patch With No Pumpkins

We made it to the pumpkin patch pretty late this year.  Traveling and busy weekends have kept us away until now, but we found a few hours to make that dream a reality before the (pumpkin) season was over.  Except, it really was over in our town.

Visiting the pumpkin patch on Saturday was pretty much a bust.  There were actually no pumpkins left that weren't broken or rotting, Poesy was a sleepy mess so the cow train terrified her, and we stood in line to get homemade ice cream only to watch the man in front of Hope get the last cup.  It was pretty comical how bad it was, but I didn't mind carrying sleepy Poesy around and both of the girls enjoyed all of the bouncy structures for a while.

The day was redeemed while watching Hope ride a horse.  It made for a good ending.

We learned a good lesson about waiting so late in the season to go, but honestly, I preferred the apple orchard anyway.  There was something a little sweeter about just being there to pick apples from trees and not having to worry about buying tickets for this or that and watching kids push and shove each other to be first in line.  Plus, we still have to go buy some pumpkins at the grocery store, so there's that.  ;)

Today we are finishing piecing (more) costumes together.  My kids have changed their minds 500 times about what to be for Halloween (we use our family costumes for parties, but Hope always wants a different costume for trick-or-treating), so today is the day that everyone has to make a final decision!

Pumpkin Patch

This weekend we packed ourselves up and headed over to the pumpkin patch.  We had never been to this particular patch, so we didn't really know what we were in for.  Wow.  This place was pretty amazing!  Rock climbing, bounce houses, jousting, a little "cow train", local bbq... well, there were so many things we couldn't even begin to get around to doing everything in one day.  Here are some (a lot!) of clips from our day:

The actual patch where you pick the pumpkins left a little to be desired, but we were there at the end of the day... not to mention it being a pretty rough year for those poor pumpkins.  All-in-all it was a really good day.  We finished the night at our new favorite diner, and then we all came home and slept like little babies.

P.S.  I can't believe how much the girls have grown since last year!  ALSO.  We missed you, Denbows!

Pumpkin Patch

As I mentioned last week, we had the pleasure of visiting the pumpkin patch with the Denbows.  There was a fun corn maze, games for the kids, and pony rides!  It really was a great time and I especially love that our kids are becoming sweet, little friends.  :)

Pumpkin Patch!

Today was such a lovely day. Hope got out of school early and the
weather was amazing, so we decided it was the perfect day to finally
make it to the pumpkin patch. The place was really cool. There were
little games and a tiny cafe inside of the greenhouse, and outside they
had a hay bale maze and tractor rides to take you out to the pumpkin
patch. Here's a glimpse:



























































































































































Like I said, it was a good day. We brought the pumpkins home and carved them. I'll try to remember to take pictures of them tomorrow. We always let Hope draw all of the faces and then Johnny and I have the task of trying to cut them out. She does draw pretty small, so sometimes that can be very challenging. When they are finished they are almost always adorable and HILARIOUS. :)
