My Happy Place

As I've been looking through pictures from the last week or so, something has resonated with me more than anything else: home is my happy place.  I love going out, traveling, and nights with friends, but I'm happiest when I'm home. Having breakfast on the porch, reading books with the girls, digging in the garden (yes, in a dress)... these are all things that really make my heart swell.  I know people talk about enjoying the "simple things" in life... I think this is what they mean.  I'm very thankful for all of it.

**My new glasses are from BonLook.  :)

  1. Home is my happy place too. I sometimes get a big grin on my face thinking about how much I love where I live and how there are great memories here already and many more to come!

Your garden is beautiful. I didn't get anything together in time this year, but am hoping to do some raised beds next year.

  6. I agree, no matter how much you enjoy being out and about home is that little bubble that is always nice to crawl back in to.

  13. It just feels *right* to be in the garden, doesn't it? That's how it is for me, anyway. When I'm looking at my plants and flowers all my other troubles just melt away.

love the flower in that last picture, too!

  14. katie, i feel the same way about my garden. it's like instant meditation, even just to water. i love standing over that small patch of earth, hand on hip, feeling like i'm doing something so old and wonderful.

  21. I have to say that I love that first photo of you--because of your hands. I think that for the most part, in your photos I get all swept up in how adorable and sweet and idyllic your life seems (seems--I know there's real life in there too). But those hands are the hands of a woman who uses them--to create and soothe and hold. And that's really beautiful. :)

  26. Oh, I love your hairdo... Is it just a bun who is in a mess? It looks like a braid, a special braid, but a braid. No?

  40. I agree...it's the small things that always make me happiest. I'm definitely a home body. Life is so busy crazy for us, all...the...time...and to just spend time doing regular things, like gardening or laying on the floor playing lego, chilling out and watching a fun movie, reading storybooks, or just flaking out in the sunshine at a backyard picnic...just so nice.

PS. Love your LBD. Where can I find something like it? :)
