Wire Bow DIY

I'm always looking for fun hair accessories to add to my collection.  Here's a quick little wire bow DIY project to add a little flair to pony tails, buns, and braids!

Supplies needed:  pretty fabric (thanks, Alexa!), wire, wire cutters, and scissors

Step 1:  cut out a length of fabric (mine was 13 inches).  You can make it as long or short as you'd like.

Step 2:  sew around the edges of the fabric (make sure the fabric is turned inside out, or printed side down) leaving a small hole unsewn.

Step 3:  take a length of wire that is double the size of your fabric (mine was 26 inches).  Twist the ends together and fold down.

Step 4:  flip the fabric right-side-out and slide the wire inside.  Stitch up the opening and you are done!

I love quick DIY projects and this one doesn't disappoint.  I'm pretty sure it took me all of 10 or 15 minutes to create something totally fun to wear!

Happy crafting!

Friday Is For Friends: My Girl Thursday

I'm SO happy to welcome my dear friend Thursday here for this week's edition of Friday is for Friends!
***********************************************************
Hello and happy Friday everyone!
My name is Thursday and I’m the girl behind a funny little blog called My Girl Thursday (a place where you can laugh with me or at me, so long as you’re laughing I’m pretty happy). My turn-ons include marathon thrifting, baking pies, succeeding at craft projects, graphic design and being a mom (although it does feel pretty wrong to list that as a turn-on). My turn-offs include Comic Sans. That’s it. I just really hate Comic Sans.

Something that I’ve been obsessing over lately is vintage hairstyles; more specifically pin-up girl looks. I’ve been watching one particular guru on YouTube and something she loves to do is add a flower to her hair as a finishing touch. I love it! A pretty bloom always seems to add the perfect finishing touch to many of these retro hair-dos.

So today I thought I’d walk you through a short and simple project so that you too could make your own pretty hair flower. This was my first time making one for myself and now I can’t wait to make a bunch in different colours!
*********Thanks again, Thursday, for this super pretty DIY!  I can't wait to try it out! xo. Katie

Guest Post: Hope and Hair Things

Hello friends!  It's Hope again.  I really like to make things and I wear pretty things in my hair a lot, so today I want to do something a little different and share a DIY with you.

 (That's me.)

Supplies:  needle and thread, scissors, felt, buttons, hair clips or headbands

1.  Cut out flower, leaf, and bow shapes.
2.  Sew the shapes together to make pretty flowers and things.
3.  Attach to a clip or sew on a headband (my mommy helped me with this).
4.  You have your own clips to wear in your hair!

This is me wearing the one I made.  I did a pretty good job if I say so myself.

Well that's my DIY.  I hope you have fun making this!  Be sure not to poke yourself with a needle.  Ouch!!!
See you in a couple of weeks!  Bye.  --Hope
