Record Store Day

We ended up being in St. Louis for Record Store Day this year, so I was pretty pumped leading up to it.  We made our way over to Vintage Vinyl once I was up and going on Saturday morning.  It was all pretty hoppin'-- they had live music outside, free beer inside, and a two hour wait in line to see any of the record store day exclusive merch.  I'm a person who can go either way in those crazy crowded situations-- sometimes it's way too much and sometimes it's totally fine, depending on how I prepare myself.  Unfortunately I wasn't really in the mood that day, so I grabbed a Bryan Adams album I don't have (he's my guilty pleasure love), Johnny snagged a Pearl Jam album he didn't have, and we came home to our good ol' faithful record store here in Springfield to snag the Mazzy Star RSD 7".  I'm pretty happy with our loot, but who really needs a special day to buy records?  You know me, any day is a good day for music!

Did you snag anything great for Record Store Day this year?  You can see our purchases from last year right here.  xo.  Katie

  2. Always a good day to go record shopping! I had my heart set on Death Cab for Cutie ft. Magik Magik Orchestra, but the last one went before I could grab it. Although I did come away with the Camera Obscura 45 and Sam Cooke!

    1. Those are both great! I saw a couple of things friends scored on IG that I didn't even know existed, so I know there was a lot of good stuff to be had!

  3. Great finds! I got to my store too late to get anything that I wanted, but I did get the Pretty In Pink soundtrack that was a record store day buy from another year. I had a good time participating in the craziness even if I didn't get what I went for.

    1. I scored my favorite Neil Young album on Ebay for, like, $2 or something crazy like that! You could always keep an eye out there. :)

  5. Cool albums! I had work to do that day, but my husband really did enjoy it: a friend was dj'ing in our favorite record store, there even was a little concert (hard to believe in such a tiny store!). He brought home some nice finds, too -- almost-vintage classics to add to his collection plus Belle & Sebastian's "If you're feeling sinister" to share with me <3 I love that album!
Oh, and there were some cool totes to take them home in: http://www.recordstoreday.es/tiendarsds/

  8. I spent wayyyy too much money at Record Store Day this year, but it was worth it! I (finally) just got a Crosley, so I am building my collection. And I've discovered I'm obsessed with the 80's ;) My store was crowded too, and everyone wanted the new stuff, so I went on a hunt for the old-school. I blogged about what I got if you want to read!

  10. I live right next door to an awesome record store, but I have to admit I avoid it like the plague on record store day! It's like black friday for music nerds. That Mazzy Star record is so pretty though!

  11. Next time you are in STL if Euclid Records is still open in Webster Groves you should go there! I really loved it. It's not as big as Vintage Vinyl but they have a great selection and tend to be less crowded. Also, Webster Groves is super cute. All of your STL trips are making me miss it!!!
