Weekly Wears: Birthday Duds

Vintage Dress: c/o Vic and Lily;  Necklace: c/o Cheerfully Charmed;  Shoes: c/o Bait Footwear;  Sunglasses: Target;  Earrings: c/o Poshlocket;  (Not pictured: those little bike shorts, which have become my favorite under-dress staple)

I wore this to my MIL's birthday lunch yesterday.  We all sat around and chatted and ate (in the AC!) while the little granddaughters warmed up to each other.  Hope (of course) is sweet, patient, and willing to share her grandma, but Poesy tends to lean a leeeettle on the jealous side when the youngest grand-baby comes around.  She's still learning that sharing thing.

It was a really nice lunch to celebrate such a special lady, though-- I can't even TRY to sum up the amazing part she has played in my life.  I know some wives have a hard time with their MILs, but I kinda won the MIL lottery.  I love her to pieces.

I hope your week is going well so far!

  6. Aaw it's so lovely that you get on with your mother in law! I'm so shy and awkward that I've never really spoken to mine properly, though she is very nice!

I love how your necklace matches your shoes so perfectly!

  11. Beautiful! And I know what you mean about having a wonderful MIL. When we moved from the Midwest to CA, I was most sad about being moving so far from my MIL. Your's sounds like a sweet lady!

  12. I love the blue dress and coral necklace together -- such a great combo. It's awesome that you get along with your mother-in-law so well, it's such a cliche that wives and mothers-in-law also feud.

  17. I think this is one of my favorite outfits. So chic!

I had a hard time with my MIL at first but after a couple years it did get easier. Even after her stroke, she's still the feisty MIL that treats me like I took her youngest son, and I honestly kinda love that, ha! I want that firey attitude at her age.

  18. Such a lovely outfit! Poesy being jealous reminds me of a story my Grandparents told me about when I was an infant. My cousin (Dad's side) was playing with my Grandad (Mum's side) and I went up to her and said "That's MY Grandad". I have definitely grown out of that and learnt to share and so will Poesy. I hope you had a great lunch xo

  26. Hello!
I have a question about a particular dress that I have seen you in, but you have never sourced. It is the bee dress with no sleeves and cute brown buttons. This dress is my FAVORITE and would love to find out where you got it from.
    Thank You!
