Weekly Wears: Quirky Collections

Weekly Wears
I'm really into thrifting again... which is kinda funny considering the giant closet clean-out I'm in the middle of.  Thrifted skirts are just so great for our fall and spring transitional seasons.  If it's chilly, you can just throw a comfy cardigan over your tank or tee and you're golden.

Bodysuit: c/o ModCloth;  Skirt: thrifted;  Hat: old (similar);  Sunglasses: c/o BonLook;  Tote: CultureFlock Clothing;  E.T. jewelry: eBay;  Boots: Seychelles

I already shared my new favorite shirt with you guys-- well, I also have the tote because E.T. accessories are one of the best things ever.  I have unopened necklaces and rings from the 80's that I can't bear to tear into because they look so perfect in their original packaging.  What can I say?  It's a thing.

I hope you all had a great week!  We've got a weekend full of shows ahead of us (again), but I plan on some serious brunch and nap time thrown in there.  Happy Friday, friends!  xo.

Life in our house has been pretty a-typical lately.  As I've mentioned, we're planning to move in the next month, Hope has just started back up with school, and this is our band's busiest month of the year.  Routines don't really exist right now, and that is perfectly fine with all of us.  We've been peppering in as many dates and fun things to off-set all the packing.  I'm definitely not complaining, though-- this great purge that has been happening in our house is making me 20 levels of happy.

I have a homeschool post coming for you guys this week (for real this time).  I'm excited to share what's working for us this year!  In the meantime, have a wonderful Tuesday, friends!  xo.

We're Moving!

Sewing Studio Welcome to Our Home: Bedroom/Studio We're moving!  For those of you wondering if we're making the move to Nashville with our group of friends, the answer is nope.  We are staying in Springfield because, gosh darn, we love it here.  Our family has called this particular house "home" for the past 3 years, but as I mentioned in my New Year's Resolution post, we are ready for something a little more updated.

In celebration of new things on the horizon, let's take a walk down memory lane!

It's been a great 3 years here, but I'm SO EXCITED for things like central a/c and a dishwasher!  Typically Johnny and Hope have a pretty hard time with change, but everyone in our house is totally pumped.  Hope has decided she's ready for a "cool room" (meaning, not littered with toys and toys and toys) and I'm looking forward to helping her put that together.  The next 2 months will be dedicated to packing up and getting things out of here.  I can't wait for the serious purging that will come with this move.  We are planning a huge garage sale at the end of October.  We have hoarded so much furniture and other stuff in our basement-- it's going to feel SO GOOD to get rid of the majority of it.

Anyway, that's where we Sheltons are right now.  I can't wait to share more of our new home with you in the coming months!  Happy Wednesday, friends!

Vintage Finds and Alterations

Vintage Finds
I've been quite the lucky duck lately when it comes to finding great vintage pieces.  I thought I'd share some of my goodies with you and show how sometimes the smallest alterations can make a piece that feels too costume-y end up being something you love to wear!

Okay!  Firstly, I just found the dress above yesterday.  I was sorting through racks of clothes on one of my thrift-therapy trips (hey, it's a thing!) and I spotted it.  As you can see, I used my fancy-pants Moorea Seal scissors to chop up a dress that used to be a floor length polyester number.  After I hem it, it will be a darling polyester mini with the loveliest embroidered top.  Oh-- and do you see that tag?  It's been around for all these years and no one has ever worn it!  I'm about to show this dress some major love.

Vintage Finds
I found this dress on one of our out-of-town band trips.  I always try to hit flea markets when traveling because you never know what you'll find!  With the long sleeves, high neck, and maxi length, this dress felt like a little too much.  I'm removing the sleeves and hemming the arm holes and I think I'll really love it when it's done!

Vintage Finds
This little beauty needed some minor hand-stitching to replace missing snaps at the bust and to secure the bow.  I don't know if I'll ever really wear this, but it was too pretty to pass up!!  That's probably the exact reason my closet is exploding, huh?

Vintage Finds
Okay, so I'm not really altering these shoes, but look-- I thrifted pink shoes!  I was pretty stoked to find these.

What about you?  Are you working on any projects right now?  xo.
