Easter 2017

Welp, I'm a little late to the Easter posting party, but hey- I'd rather it be late that not at all.  We decided to dye eggs in the backyard a couple nights before Easter morning and it was the perfect weather and perfect setting.  We got messy, enjoyed the cool breeze, and the girls took trampoline breaks.  I always wonder if this will be the last year Hope enjoys our holiday traditions because of how old she's getting, so it makes my heart especially warm to see her loving these small things still.

We spent Easter morning doing our own thing and then headed back to our hometown to visit with both mine and Johnny's parents.  It was rainy and dreary that day, so I opted to be a lazy lady and not bring my DSLR.  This is when I thank the universe for decent iPhone cameras.  Katie, Katie... you should know better by now...


Johnny and I still exchange Easter baskets.  It's one of my favorite traditions.  I got him a bunch of fancy-person candy and a basketball.  You've gotta have the fun things in there, right?

We had a wonderful day all together and I hope that baseball bat stays in the tree for years to come. (It's been there since I can remember.)  Also, Hope is wearing one of my shrunken dresses in the photo above-- WHAT?!

I adore my beautiful family and I'm so thankful for our traditions.  xo.

So I Missed Easter 2016

I just realized I never got around to posting Easter photos.  I also missed Christmas, so I definitely wanted to make sure and get these Easter pics up.  Looking back at years gone by is one of the biggest reasons I share on this blog, so it kinda seems like I need to get my booty back on top of things!


Easter this year was a little different than normal.  It was so low key that it almost didn't even feel like a holiday.  We traveled back to the lake (our hometown) like usual, but decided to stay in a hotel the night before so we didn't have to wake up on Easter morning and rush around like we've had to do in years past.  It was mostly a good decision... except that Johnny and I stayed up until 4am stuffing baskets in a hotel bathroom.  Then as Easter morning came upon us, my excited girls woke up at 6am.  Yes.  It was a very sleepy holiday to say the least.


It was a pretty cold and dreary day but we made it work.  My mom lives most of her life with my stepfather in an 18-wheeler, so it was extra nice for the girls to get to spend time with both sets of grandparents.  I made out like a bandit with one of my favorite records + all kinds of delicious treats thanks to Mr. Easter Bunny (Johnny).  All in all, it was a good weekend.  xo.

Easter 2015

We had a very low-key Easter this year.  Typically we travel to this house and that, visiting all our families.  This year we stayed close to home and spent the holiday with our little family and some friends.  I have to admit, it was kinda bittersweet.  Breaking traditions we've had since Johnny and I got married felt a little sad, but having a quiet, do-whatever-you-want day was pretty nice.  Here are a few snaps from the day:


The rule in our house is you can each as many treats as you want on holidays.  You're either thinking, "That's so fun!" or "You are insane."  Both.  Both things are true.  See image below.

We ended the day spending quality time with some of our dearest friends and our bellies full of candy, so no complaints over here.  xo.

Our Easter

Easter was pretty great this year, and it was nice to break out of some of our normal routine.
I decided to skip out on buying new Easter dresses-- a tradition I was ready to put down.  Each year we slap some cash on the counter for dresses the girls will wear once or twice, just because it's what we've always done.  I'm definitely not taking a hard stance against it, but this year I was really just feeling like it was unnecessary.  Plus, those kids could wear paper sacks and still be darn adorable.

Anyyyyywayyyyy... let me back up a little.

Our band played out of town on Friday night.  I ended up coming down with a fever and flu-like symptoms in the wee Saturday morning hours, so Saturday was weird.  I can't even remember the last time I was miserable with a fever.  (Are grown-ups even supposed to get fevers?  That's rhetorical, but I still thought the fact that I had a fever was pretty dumb.)  We picked up the girls and decided to stay in a hotel Saturday night so we could be closer to our Sunday morning destination (for church, family gatherings, etc.) since we live an hour & 1/2 away and we'd basically been traveling the whole weekend.  So, the girls opened their baskets in our funny hotel room, and though for a second I looked around the room feeling like a bad mom, Hope swears it was the best Easter ever.  Kids are easy to please-- give them a swimming pool and a vending machine and they're in heaven.

Over the course of the day we had four different egg hunts, the girls got Easter baskets three times, and I ate my weight in Cadbury mini eggs.  I justified that last thing by telling myself it was okay because I felt crummy.  I can be so kind to me sometimes.  ;)

It was a wonderful day spent celebrating with the ones I love.  I'm not sure how Johnny weaseled his way out of photographs... he can be pretty stealthy when he wants to be...

Oh, yeah-- and just because I can't stop cracking up over it:
