Baby Mobile

I've been working on this custom mobile for what seems like forever now, and I FINALLY completed it last week!  The animals were no problem for me (well, except for the zebra who turned out crazy the first time around and needed a redo), but the construction of the mobile was a challenge.  I've never done a mobile before and I had just planned on hanging the animals from an embroidery hoop covered with yarn.  What looked good in my head didn't translate as well in real life, so I sat.  And I thought.  And I obsessed.  And this is what I came up with:

It makes the babies go wild.

My Friends Make Pretty Things

I have met so many talented people through the internet, sometimes it's mind boggling.  I just felt like sharing:  my friends make pretty things.

Chelsea has a knack for making things that are somehow cool, edgy, and adorable.  I'm in love with this dress!

 Danielle has opened a lovely shop called Flourish.  Her bracelets are so pretty!  Keep your eyes peeled, you just might see me wearing mine in my next outfit post!  ;)

 Jayme has just done a Roald Dahl series.  You should check it out, it's completely impressive... as always.

Shana has started making bracelets and I adore them!  She makes some of my absolute favorite jewelry.

Vanessa has just started producing her own line of dresses.  She's leaving for tour again soon, but I will eventually get my hands on one.  ;)

Working, Working... More Progress

A couple of weeks ago I finished the tiniest thing I've ever made.  It was a bumblebee brooch with a very special story, and I was so happy to be a small part of it.

I wish I would have gotten a picture of it fastened to my purse!  It made me want one for myself!

I also had the privilege of working on a very special request for a little girl.  Her nickname is "Ruby Bird".  :)

One little note:  this bird does have wire and will be set on a high shelf for her.  Don't worry!

Closing Shop...

That's right... the time has come for me to close shop for a little while.  I'm not juggling my baby distraction with shipping orders very well right now, so I figure it's only fair to my customers to take a little break.  I do plan to have some of these in the shop by February (hopefully):

I also have something new in the works and I can't wait to share!!!  I love working on things that make you totally excited about your job!  

Oh, and one more thing... I couldn't share until after Christmas, but I got to make a Doxie for a special girl this season.  I was so happy to send it off to her, but even happier when her sister sent me pictures of her opening it on Christmas.  :))

It was loosely based off of her pup... hence the spots and such.  Anyway, time for a great brainstorming session and then back to rearranging the house to open up the baby room.  I had SO MUCH more stuff in the studio than I could have imagined!  xoxo Katie

I ship the last of my orders out tomorrow!  I know that makes me happy, as well as the people waiting on them.  You know what that means... Christmas is close!  I have a few more things to pick up, but I'm almost done shopping.  This is going to be the best week... baking cookies, looking at all the pretty lights, listening to Hope sing at a nursing home, giving gifts (!)... Thank you thank you thank you!!!!  I CANNOT believe the ornament response I got today!  I figured everyone would be out shopping and the ornaments would at least last through the weekend.  You all show me (and my animals) so much love all the time.  I appreciate it SO MUCH.

I've gotten lots of emails throughout the day asking if I'll be posting anymore.  I'm so sorry if you missed the one you wanted... I promise that after I get all of these sent out and I find myself with extra time, I'll see what I can do about getting more made (especially the penguins).  For now, this is it, friends.  I'm off now to work these fingers.  Have a great night!  xoxo Katie

Holiday Excitement!

Since I announced the ornament update, I've been doing my best to only work on new ornaments here and there... though, I am losing this battle.  I just want to stitch up sweet ornaments all day and night!  Alas, I have many, many custom orders to work on, so this isn't possible.  I do, however, have a little peek for you today!  I hope you get as excited as I have over them!
