Weekly Wears: Locked Up At School

Before I start the outfit part of this post, I'd just like to give each and every one of you a hug for your sweet comments on Hope's post.  You all are so supportive it makes me want to cry happy tears.  For those of you who have asked, yes she wrote the whole post.  She writes it in her notebook for me and I type it out word-for-word, 8 year old mistakes and all.  ;)  I'm letting her read the comments to her posts after I do a little sifting (and possibly weeding), so she gets the encouragement but doesn't have to see the ugly side of blogging quite yet.  She's a little girl, and just like all little ones is still very sensitive and impressionable.

So, here's a fun story:

While driving around looking for pretty places to shoot outfit pictures, we happened upon this beautiful, old school.  We made our way through the gate, around to the back, and found a nice location.  We did our thing, hopped back in the car (this was 5 minutes at the most), and as we drove around the front noticed that the front gate had been locked.  Uhhhhhh... we took our little car and drove ANY path we could find.  It didn't help.  WE WERE TRAPPED!  Seriously, we were there for almost 3 hours before someone finally came to unlock the gate!  It was ridiculous.  I repeat:  RIDICULOUS.  We did make it out, though, and on the way home Johnny said, "I sure hope those pictures turn out."  Yeah, bud... me, too.  ;)

Dress:  old UO
Tank:  old Abercrombie
Head Thingie:  handmade
Necklace:  handmade
Shoes:  Aldo

I won't comment on whether this is my favorite outfit post or not (it's not), but the pictures weren't blacked out, so by-golly I'm using them!  A labor of love, I tell you.  ;)

Really, it's a funny story and could've been a lot worse.  No one in my family got mad at me for being there, the police were really nice, and afterward I got a pretzel.  Not too shabby.  ;))

My New Contributor

I'd like to introduce you all to my new contributor.  She is a very funny, talented, and smart individual, and I'm ecstatic to have her blogging here with me.  Without further ado, I give you Miss Hope:

Hi.  My name is Hope and I'm going to be writing here every other Wednesday.  For my first day blogging here I'm going to talk about the story of my baby sister.

Well, we were sitting having dinner one night and my mommy said she was preagnet.  And to tell you the truth I was not very happy.  Actually I cried A LOT.  But then a lot of months passed by and I started to like the idea of having a baby sister.  We also took a shopping trip for baby stuff.  Then a few more months passed by and it was time for her to be born.  When I first saw her she was still coverd with belly juice so I would not touch her, but the nurse gave me some gloves so I could touch her.
When I put my finger inside her hand she grabbed it really hard.  She had blue eyes.  Her name is Poesy.  Another thing I can tell you is that she is the ultimate milky face.  She's almost five months old now and she thinks I'm really funny!  Well that's all I have to say.  Talk to you next time!  Bye!

P.S.  I loooooooooovvvvvvvvvvveeeeeeee her sooooooooooo much!!!!  -Hope

Here, There, and Everywhere

Okay, yes to being here and there, but maybe not quite everywhere.  ;)  My friend Chantilly is having a crazy giveaway on her blog today, and one of my plush snails is hanging out in one of those giveaways!  If you're interested, you can enter here

I recently had the privilege of doing a little DIY guest post over on my friend Moorea's blog.  If you get a chance, you should check out her other guests.  I've really been enjoying them all!

I thought I would share my super simple DIY over here for all of you as well.  :)  I would like to add, since we've made these, we've been enjoying watching the little birdies in our front yard.  The little ones get a big kick out of it!

Supplies:
fabric and lace, twig spheres (can be purchased at most craft stores), peanut butter, birdseed

Step 1:
Thread the fabric through the sphere.  We used scissors to help push it through.

Step 2:
Cover the sphere with peanut butter, being careful not to spread onto the fabric.

Step 3:
Roll, roll, roll in bird seed!

Step 4:
Hang your bird feeders and enjoy!

(Did you notice my tiny little helper hands in the photos?  So cute!)
Have a great day, everyone!  I have a REALLY awesome guest post in the works for my blog this week, and I'm so excited to share soon!  xoxo Katie

Phones, the Interweb, and Music Monday

My phone is dead.  It is.  It died Saturday.  Unfortunately for me, my husband had the car, the internet was out, and my phone had decided to kick the bucket.  It was a crazy feeling.  I couldn't read blogs, I couldn't text friends, I couldn't even run to the store to grab anything.  I was trapped.  Then I started thinking about life before the internet and smart phones and whatnot.  It was quite a different time... at least it was for me.  After I got done with the initial shock of not having any means of communication, I had the most productive night in months.  I'm not saying I'm ready to give up or take a break from the e-world, I'm just saying that, at least for a little while, when it's time to work I'm going to start pretending like it's the 90s and I'm too poor for computers.  Oh yeah... and what's a cell phone?  *wink, wink*  I think it's going to be a mighty productive summer for Skunkboy Creatures (Ha, if I can stick to this!).

So... here's my Music Monday contribution for this week.  I've been listening to the new Death Cab album pretty much non-stop for the last couple of weeks.  I've said this before, but Death Cab is a huge part of my summertime soundtrack.  What do you think of the new album?

Have a great Monday, friends!  I'm off to grab some sno cones and spend some time with my sweet little family.  :)   xoxo Katie
