Casa Caracol

Casa Caracol
Johnny and I just got back from a week in Mexico.  We went with a couple of our dearest friends, and it was a blast!  We found this gorgeous place on Airbnb and it was the most precious place I've ever stayed.  It's called Casa Caracol (The Seashell House) and it's on the most relaxing island, Isla Mujeres.  Seriously, everyone is so laid back and happy.  I will definitely be taking the girls on vacation there in the future.  I have some photos to share, so I thought I'd start with our bedroom.

There are two bedrooms total in the house, so a couple's trip was perfect!  The Larsons are pretty much our vacation soulmates, so we spent most nights just sitting in the adorable living room, chatting and laughing.

The island was so beautiful, I hope when I go back I will get the chance to take proper photos of the beauty there.  This vacation was more about being in the moment and enjoying each other.

We love you, Isla Mujeres and Casa Caracol!  Until next time!

Snapshots

Snapshots Snapshots Snapshots Snapshots Snapshots Snapshots
Here are some random snapshots from life lately.  Johnny and I just spent the last week in Mexico with some of our dearest friends, but nothing's ever sweeter than coming home to our girls.  I've been mostly focusing my at-home energy on getting my studio usable again, because I seriously miss sewing!  I found two close-but-still-unfinished animals while I was unpacking boxes and it definitely lit a fire underneath me!  It's time to get back to sewing creatures... and other things.

I'll show you the before and after progress of cleaning out my studio/closet very soon.  Also, you know what that means-- CLOSET SALE VERY SOON!

Happy Monday, friends!

Love Love Love

Pumpkin Patch
I've never pretended to be the most eloquent person, because I'm not.  So many of my friends are voicing their opinions and concerns in respectful, calm ways and I'm over here in my corner just processing.  I know many people are feeling hurt, scared, and alienated by the election results and I hate that.  I wish I could fix aching hearts and hug everyone experiencing sadness.  Please know that you are loved.  People will work hard to make you feel that way.  I will work hard to make you feel that way.  Sure I may not always have the right words, but know I'm here for you in whatever capacity I can be.  Let's gather together and be here for each other.  Love, love, love like there is no other option.  xo.

Now, who wants to go get ice cream???

Halloween 2016

Halloween 2016
We had a wonderful Halloween this year.  The weather was unseasonably warm and all costumes were put together well before the parade.  It's been a while since either of those things have happened in the Shelton house.  Poesy decided months and MONTHS ago that she wanted to be Santa Claus.  I was certain she would change her mind after hitting up some of the Halloween stores, but she stuck with it!  I bought the outfit pieces from Amazon, but you know I had to throw a little DIY in there-- I hand stitched the beard and it was so much cuter on her than anything else we had found.

Hope decided to be a Hufflepuff student and was totally convincing, as always.  She couldn't decide what to be this year and, man... the Halloween stores had nothing to offer in the way of teenagers.  Four days before Halloween she decided to commit to this, so Johnny and I went frantically internet and department store searching for all the pieces.  The sweater vest was the only thing we couldn't find, so I found an athletic shirt on clearance for $3 and chopped it into a vest.  I'm so glad it worked out!

Here are some pictures from our evening.  Wouldn't you know it, my camera battery died as soon as we started to the parade.  Thank God for iPhones.

We ran into Rachel's crew and finished our night eating pizza and swapping candy.  Halloween 2016 was a success!  Oh, and I'm so happy Poesy didn't change her mind about being Santa Claus.  She was the cutest Santa ever.
