Weekly Wears: Thrift Store Staples

Weekly Wears Weekly Wears Weekly Wears Weekly Wears Weekly Wears Weekly Wears Weekly Wears Weekly Wears
It feels good to be unpacking my spring and summer clothes right now!  We've had such lovely weather here in MO and it's been so nice meeting friends for outdoor dinners and gatherings.  Plus, I never mind it when my yard is covered in tiny colorful flowers!

Top: American Apparel;  Skirt: thrifted;  Shoes: Bali ELF;  Purse: Bali ELF;  Necklace: Ladybird Likes

I always find that one of the easiest things for me to thrift are skirts.  When I walk into a second hand shop and feel entirely overwhelmed by where to start, I typically head straight to the skirts and start flipping.  I don't know if it's the place my brain needs to begin or I'm just really good at finding skirt treasures (the elastic waists make it pretty simple, too), but the skirt rack is my grounding.  Do you have a place where you typically start in thrift stores?  I'm always curious about others' methods.

Well, I just found out our Hancock Fabrics store is closing down, so I'm off to stock up on fabric and whatnot!  Have the loveliest Thursday, friends!

Snapshots

Snapshots Snapshots Snapshots Snapshots Snapshots Snapshots Snapshots Snapshots
Here is another round of snippets of life lately!  I'm feeling particularly fond of these.  :)

*Poesy loves to try and slide down the banister... except that's as far as she can get and she gets stuck EVERY SINGLE TIME.
*I've been non-stop brainstorming how to create an adorable music room that's still functional.  It's hard, guys.
*Breakfast mornings with the girls are some of my favorite times.
*You know it's going to be a good day when you match the fox mural in your backyard.
*Our living room shelves are filling up nicely.  I need to acquire a few more books, but I'm getting closer.
*I've been filling our house with plants and plants and plants, but watering days are becoming a little time consuming.  Kinda funny.
*Our bedroom is *THIS CLOSE* to finished and I can't wait to share!  (Pillowcases from here.)
*Poesy's sweet demeanor and hilarious sense of humor are almost too much these days.  She's a delight to be around.

What's been going on in your world lately?  We have a very busy rest-of-the-week ahead of us, but I don't mind.  It's gonna be a good one!  xo.

$1000 Interior Define Giveaway!--CLOSED

Interior Define
I've been hard at work on the new house, looking for the perfect pieces of furniture for our spaces.  Seriously, I can't tell you how many hours I've spent on the internet looking for things that fit the aesthetic I want but stay in our price range.  It's hard!  My most recent obsession is finding the right chairs for our living room.  I've found styles I like but the fabric leaves something to be desired or vice-versa.

I suppose my pain is your gain, because today I'm here to share a gem of a furniture company with you.  Interior Define is a site that lets you choose your style AND fabric.  They are totally changing the way we shop for furniture.  You like that chair but hate the color?  Customize it!  You think the style is great but the legs don't fit the vibe you're going for?  Customize that too!  Interior Define offers 40-50 different fabric options, depending on the piece you are creating.  I'm pretty picky about fabric quality (everyday fabric snob over here), so being able to choose sizable swatches to touch and feel before coming to a decision was hugely appealing to me.

So I Missed Easter 2016

Easter 2016 Easter 2016 Easter 2016 Easter 2016 Easter 2016
I just realized I never got around to posting Easter photos.  I also missed Christmas, so I definitely wanted to make sure and get these Easter pics up.  Looking back at years gone by is one of the biggest reasons I share on this blog, so it kinda seems like I need to get my booty back on top of things!

Easter 2016 Easter 2016 Easter 2016
Easter this year was a little different than normal.  It was so low key that it almost didn't even feel like a holiday.  We traveled back to the lake (our hometown) like usual, but decided to stay in a hotel the night before so we didn't have to wake up on Easter morning and rush around like we've had to do in years past.  It was mostly a good decision... except that Johnny and I stayed up until 4am stuffing baskets in a hotel bathroom.  Then as Easter morning came upon us, my excited girls woke up at 6am.  Yes.  It was a very sleepy holiday to say the least.

It was a pretty cold and dreary day but we made it work.  My mom lives most of her life with my stepfather in an 18-wheeler, so it was extra nice for the girls to get to spend time with both sets of grandparents.  I made out like a bandit with one of my favorite records + all kinds of delicious treats thanks to Mr. Easter Bunny (Johnny).  All in all, it was a good weekend.  xo.

Band Talk

The Mixtapes
I find myself mentioning our band here and there on the blog, but it's been a little while since I've given any real updates on my work-life outside of the internet world.  At the turn of the year we lost some members of the band, but gained some fantastic new people.  I definitely miss my old mates, but I'm certainly in the honeymoon phase with these new players.  It's bittersweet, I guess.  In total, I'm pretty sure Johnny told me that we've been through 10ish- a dozen rotating members.  That feels crazy, but having the time to commit to this without getting burned out or just generally tired is really important.  Johnny and I work well in this setting because our schedules are very flexible.

Other than holding the title of "front-person" (sorta... it's complicated), one of my big jobs in The Mixtapes is social media and design.  Since we have some new, adorable faces, I've been spending some hours on new images for the band.  The unicorn (above) is my personal favorite at the moment. I think all I've ever wanted in life is to ride a pink unicorn.  Or be one.  Again, it's complicated.

The Mixtapes
We've been traveling quite a bit since the turn of the new year, and it's been really good.  Sometimes we end up at a generally large venue and other times we'll be playing a pretty small, divey place, but both extremes can be a crazy amount of fun.  It all depends on the energy level, really.

We really lucked out to find such talented and fun multi-instrumentalists.  You should see Ivy play the drums-- the girl is KILLER.  I basically have a music crush on every one of these people.

Anyway, there's a small update on what our fun little band has been up to.  I'm looking forward to all the adventures this year will hold for us!  If you're interested in more information (or just peeping out of curiosity), you can follow our Instagram and/or Facebook!  My goal is to get lots more videos posted over the next several months while we're up to our ears in shows!  xo.
