Night Rides

We had some friends over this weekend for a little cheering-up party, and I took a few of those friends out for night rides on the ol' bikey.  The night was perfectly cool, everyone was pumped from some seriously intense rounds of Catch Phrase, and the neighborhood was quiet.  I absolutely adore night rides... even though my new riders almost tipped the tandem once or twice.  It takes some getting used to!  The guy above is not one of my night-time tandem newbies-- just a husband with a haircut.

Thanks to the prettiest bike shop around, the tandem has some snazzy new accessories.  Have you heard of Eleanor's before?  I hadn't until they sent me a little email, but now I'm a huge fan.  They have all the pretty bike things my tandey needs!

I put the bell on the back handlebars just for Hope.  She let out a little squeal when she realized it was there.  Now when we ride through the neighborhood you definitely hear us coming.  ;)

I've mentioned this before, but she (the bike, not Hope) still needs a name!  I want something clever, but not too obvious, you know?  Any suggestions would be appreciated.  I'm off to help Johnny shop for a helmet-- I already have mine picked out!

**My glasses are from BonLook and my shirt is from Stay Home Club.

  1. How about Mikael after Mikael Pederson who invented the tandem? Xx

  2. How about Thandi? If you say it with an American accent it's Tan-dee with a South African one its Tun-dee. So you have the dual pronunciation. It's Zulu for loved/loveable (depends on how you use it in a sentence). Thando (tan-doe, tun-doe) means love. And it's the feminine form of the name. Also, its like the English word - tandem - like the bike.

(South African Reader - bet you have tons) Also, will not in any way or form be offended if you choose another name, just thought of it when you mentioned it.

  18. Fact: Every time that I am asked to name something, my initial and immediate response is "Emelio Estevez". So, you know, consider it.

I actually really like the name Eleanor! I know you mentioned it for the bike shop, but it'd be a perfect name for the bike! Badass with a side of old lady. Or something.

I don't know what to name your bike because I'm terrible at naming things, I still haven't named my phone and I've had it since march.

  40. What about" fiets". It means bike in dutch. And hey, we all ride on bikes( fietsen) here!!!

  41. I feel like it needs to have an old name for some reason. Like Ingrid or Betty Lou. :)

    ReplyDelete
  42. Tandemey, because if you pronounce the "ey" like in "hey" (and not "ee"), it sounds exactly like "Temps d'aimer" in french which means "Time to love" ;)
