Happy Halloween!

(Both costumes from last year.)

My kids are bouncing off the walls today.  I think they may be a bit excited.  ;)
I hope those of you who are celebrating have a happy and safe Halloween!  Don't eat too much candy... after tonight...

Weekends Are For...

...taking time to do nothing... even if it's for a short while...

...enjoying the great outdoors...

...eating breakfast on the porch...

...amazing friends who come over and help you get over that "decorating anxiety"...

...going out with the grown-ups when you get the chance...

...and accidental naps.

I hope you all had a great weekend and are getting a good start to the new week!

Pumpkin Patch

This weekend we packed ourselves up and headed over to the pumpkin patch.  We had never been to this particular patch, so we didn't really know what we were in for.  Wow.  This place was pretty amazing!  Rock climbing, bounce houses, jousting, a little "cow train", local bbq... well, there were so many things we couldn't even begin to get around to doing everything in one day.  Here are some (a lot!) of clips from our day:

The actual patch where you pick the pumpkins left a little to be desired, but we were there at the end of the day... not to mention it being a pretty rough year for those poor pumpkins.  All-in-all it was a really good day.  We finished the night at our new favorite diner, and then we all came home and slept like little babies.

P.S.  I can't believe how much the girls have grown since last year!  ALSO.  We missed you, Denbows!

Home School Diaries

"Angiosperms are plants that have fruit.  The cycle of making the fruit never stops.  First there is a flower, a bee comes and eats the pollen.  Some of it will get knocked down in the flower's ovary.  Then the flower's ovary will start to swell up.  It will make an apple let's say.  An animal will come and eat the apple.  The animal will either just leave the part of the apple with the seeds, or some of the seeds will make it through the animal's digestive system and get pooped out.  The seeds will make a new plant and the plant will grow a flower and everything will happen again and again."
Hope explains angiosperms... and that is a fake smile.  ;)

Weekly Wears: Oh, Sailor

Dress: handmade by my friend Lolo (aka Blessed Buttons);  Tights: c/o ModCloth (last year);  Boots: Jeffrey Campbell;  Hat: Thrifted

We are fully into Fall these days.  Mums, candy corn, unpredictable weather... yep... it certainly is Fall.  I do love it, though.  We will be heading to the pumpkin patch this weekend to pick our perfect pumpkins and let the girls ride the ponies.  Poesy is going to be old enough to really 'get' what's going on this year.  I'm excited to see her response.  :)

Oh, and before you think I'm good at seasonal decorating, I totally snagged this mums-in-the-jack-o-lantern idea from one of Heidi Kenney's instagram photos.  I thought it was so cute and clever!
