I'm pretty much in love with this dress...

...and this bracelet...

 ...and these shoes...

For those who have asked, Hope will be back next week with another guest post.  She has been very busy enjoying her last days of summer and now her first days back to home schooling.  :)

Chug... Chug... Chug

I'm chug, chug, chugging along with more customs on the waiting list.  Here's the latest fella:

He made it to New Jersey just before all of the scary hurricane stuff.  I'm glad he's safe in his new home.

I'm off to work on more customs... gotta beat those deadlines!  I hope your Tuesday is just peachy!!

Most days I love my long locks, but sometimes they can have a mind of their own. I've been going to the beach and doing a lot of swimming in pools this summer and I wanted to find a cute way to wear my hair up that was simple and stylish. After fiddling around with my locks, I've created a topknot that I absolutely love!

Skunkboy
Begin by braiding three small, random sections somewhat near your hairline.

skunkboy
Taking either your hands, teasing comb or a bristled brush, tease your braids a little to give them a rough edge.
skunkboy
Roughly gather hair on the top of your head and create a messy HPT (high ponytail)

skunkboy
I like to pull some pieces of pull back hair to create a messier, carefree appearance.

Skunkboy
Grab your ponytail section and spray sea salt spray throughout. This helps create and hold texture giving your hair that summer/beachy style.

Skunkboy
Take threes to five SMALL sections from your PT and tease them a bit. Doesn't have to be fully teased. I'm just trying to create volume and the hair will be easier to bobby pin later. If you have finer, silkier hair, tease 5-7 sections at least.

IMG_8453
Take a few bobby pins and start pining hair in a circular motion around the ponytail. Feel free to twist section if you want to get extra creative with the look. Keep it loose and wild.

Keep going...

IMG_8461
Take a small section from the front of your topknot, braid, tease...

IMG_8468
and pin it back.

IMG_8478
Lightly mist hair with a flexible hold hair spray.

Then have fun accessorizing it!
Two of my favorites are the Neut headband and

the feather dangle. You can find them in our Bueno Bueno Shop.

Aaaaahhhh... I just love those Mucho Bueno girls! These are the last weeks of my "Friday is for Friends" posts. Thank you to everyone who has participated!

I'm leaving town (again) this morning to shoot my brother-in-law's wedding. I'm pretty nervous about it-- I never really liked shooting weddings in the first place (too much pressure), but now I'm really out of practice. Wish me luck!

Weekly Wears: The New Classics

I posted a mini wishlist of ModCloth dresses last week, and a lot of you had opinions on which I should get.  Well, before I had a chance to weigh them all out and decide, Lauren of Steady Clothing emailed me about one of the dresses on that list that she had designed!  I love it.  The end.

Dress: c/o Steady Clothing found through ModCloth
Tights: Target * Shoes: Thrifted
Headband: c/o Manzanita * Bangles: Thrifted * Ring: Cookoorikoo

I've been experiencing some major favor from the Awesome Shoe Fairy lately at our local thrift store.  Shoes that I might drop some double-digits on through Etsy or Ebay have just fallen into my lap for $3, $4, and $5.  Sold!  Actually, I think I need to go again tomorrow.  Yes, that will be in the plan.  Happy Thursday!

P.S.  I lurrrrrve this Manzanita headband.  I'm pretty sure it will be a Fall wardrobe staple!

Little Poe: 7 Months Old

I can't believe I'm telling people that Poesy is seven months old already.  Geez, could this year please slow down a little?  My baby has starting moving, folks, and life is CRAZY!  Everything dangerous is so darn appealing!  We are relearning how to baby proof a house.  Taking seven or eight years off allows you to forget a thing or two.  ;)

See?  She moves.
Oh yes... she also screams.  ;)

Poesy has just cut two teeth, babbles "mamamama" and "dada" all the time, and loooooooves wrapping her hands up in my hair and PULLING.  Don't worry, I usually don't even react.  I'm hoping this phase passes quickly.  ;)

She's such a beautiful and sweet little baby.  Can you believe how big she's gotten?  It AMAZES me.  xoxo Katie

P.S.  See her blanket?  It was Johnny's Star Wars blanket from when he was a little baby.  Favorite favorite.

Weekly Wears: Anchors Away

I have been drooling over these Blowfish Blyth booties since the middle of summer, and I was SO happy when we got the perfect weather for them!  70 degrees, overcast, and totally perfect... oh, except we were supposed to be having a pool party that day.  Hope's birthday party was ALMOST rained out, but it ended up clearing up at the last minute and the kids ended up having such a great time.  :)

Dress: ASOS
Tights: Target
Boots: c/o Blowfish

Just in case you were wondering, I didn't wear this to the pool party.  ;)  Happy Thursday!
xoxo Katie

Red Velvet Weekend Continued...

Forgive me if it seems like I'm gushing a little about the Red Velvet thing, but I had such a lovely weekend with those ladies and the pictures we have to show for it make me so happy!  Here are some of my favorite memories:

Doing the "3 Ways to Wear It" shoot was so much fun!  I always get really anxious before this kind of stuff, so I may or may not have been doing a little pacing before the shoot happened.  My nerves did finally calm and I had a blast.  :)  Oh yeah, and I'm SO in love with this dress.  I can't believe how flattering it is!

Rachel's party was so special and playing with Sebastian was a hoot!  We flew paper airplanes, ate treats, and sent a note attached to a balloon up in the sky.  When we were saying goodbye, his hug was so huge he almost knocked me over!  Heart = Melted

I really loved this Red Velvet Girls shoot.  Janae is such a great photographer, and you can't help but smile when she is around.
Also, thank you, Mallory, for helping me hem my arm holes!  I decided to take the sleeves off of my dress and you should have seen me trying to stitch them up.  It wasn't pretty.  Mallory is such a doll and the best sewing coach!

You can see more pictures on Elsie's blog and Rachel's blog.  I borrowed these pictures-- would you believe that I didn't really take any pictures last weekend?!  I hate it when that happens!
