Music Monday: Joanna Newsom

Today's Music Monday is Joanna Newsom.  A year ago I would not have
believed that I would be typing that.  The first time I heard Ms.
Newsom was live, on a late show, and all I could think is, "Wow, this girl is
talented, but why does she have to sing so silly?"  Now, along with
my great admiration for her harp skills, her voice has become something I adore.
Not to mention, my daughter does a pretty hilarious
and killer impression of her.  :)

I hope you enjoy!  Happy Monday!  xoxo Katie

  5. Oh man, I LOVED The Book of Right On during my sophomore year of college. I think I listened to that song (and the whole album) a zillion and a half times. She's so quirky!

  10. She is absolutely sweet.
I think it's that child like quality in her voice: understated raw emotion and oh so fragile.

And I totally agree with elizabethhaley. You and your family? Adorable.

Thank you for a lovely sunshiny break in a gloomy morning.

  11. I find her voice both irratating and cute, but her harp playing more than compensates for the irratation.

She's going out with Andy Samberg ya know?

  12. i love her voice, and the lyrics to her songs are so strange and beautiful. peach plum pear was the first song i ever heard, and i was obsessed with it for months. i'm glad people can appreciate talent like hers, a different, truly unique kind. :)

  13. I've tried but I just can't get into her.
No disrespect - She's lovely and I truly do enjoy the harp. But I can't help but feel like I'm listening to a cartoon.

  14. The first time I heard her music, I thought she sounded like the old lady in Poltergeist. I think she still does but I'm a huge fan of hers now. Her music is amazing.
