Swoon-Worthy

It's been another great weekend.  I LOVE it when things just work out and I get to have a short reprieve from the "work week".  Here are some weekend highlights for you:

Special coffee dates with friends who consider Johnny just one of the girls.  :)  I love that.

(Sorry for the crapola quality- low light iPhone pic.)
Wearing lovely new Dainty June clothes.

Swimming!

Pretty braided hair.

I'm starting to get excited for all of the things happening this week!  Fun visits, surprises, weddings, birthday parties... it's going to be a fun one!

I hope your weekend was delightful!  I'll have more details on the shop update very soon!  xoxo Katie

No Mini Update Today

I decided to save what I have for a proper update.  I'm planning it for next Wednesday, March 3rd.  I'll let you know a time as soon as I can.  Thanks for being patient with me.  I just know if I do an update, I don't want to throw it together.  I want it to be something I'm proud of.

I hope your weekend is grand!  It turns out I don't have company today, but I do have an extra clean house because of my insane need to have an immaculate place when people come over.  ;)   For now I'm off to meet a friend for coffee and chit chat.  That sounds just peachy to me!  xoxo Katie

I'm in Love, I'm in Love, and I Don't Care Who Knows It!

So, it's probably not okay to be in love with your own stuff.  Sorry.  I'm in love.  I'm in love with these new friends:

Aaaahhhhh!  I adore them.  Sorry for being so proud, but I just can't help it!  What's even better:  they are even cuter in person!  I'm thinking of having a mini update tomorrow, but it will depend on whether or not I can finish the giraffe I'm working on.  I'll let you know tomorrow (how's that for short notice?).

Have a lovely night!  I'm off to clean my house for company tomorrow. (Exciting, right? ;))  xoxo Katie

Things I Fancy

My week is all funny. I keep thinking today is Tuesday, which is going to make my work week even shorter. Hopefully tomorrow I'll be showing you something new that I'm sewing up, but for now,
I finished my custom work on Hope's new Blythe.  Here she is in all her pretty glory:

Happy Tuesday!

Just kidding.  Happy Wednesday!  xoxo Katie

Music Monday: Neil Young

Sorry for the tardiness of Music Monday.  Today's feature is Neil Young.  Now, Neil Young is one of those artists who has massive amounts of music on tons of different albums, so I'm just going to focus on my favorites.  Those albums would be:  Silver and Gold, Harvest, and Harvest Moon.  I much prefer Neil Young as a mellow artist, and don't fancy much of his rockin' stuff, but the nice part about an artist like him, is there's something for most everyone in his catalog.

I didn't grow up listening to Neil Young, I only developed an obsession about 4 years ago.  I heard the song "Razor Love" on a college radio station that is VERY hit and miss, and new I had to check out his music.  I was surprised to find out that Silver and Gold was released in 2000.  The songs from that album are beautifully written, and are extremely reminiscent of songs from Harvest Moon (1992) and even some from Harvest (1972).  I feel like Neil Young is quite the timeless artist.  Even Prairie Wind, which was just released in 2005, would be a good representation of what Neil Young does best.  I love him as a singer/songwriter/acoustic guitar artist... especially when Emmylou Harris is singing backgrounds for him.  :)

Snippets

Here are some snippets from my weekend.  :)

A surprise came in the mail for Hope.  :))
I told her it was a new box for her Blythe. She didn't know whether to believe me or not...
She was very excited and grateful.

We had some toy store fun!

Lots of car rides.

Hehehe... this picture is so Johnny! Such an awkward boy.  :D

Some leisurely Starbucks reading.

I hope your weekend was wonderful as well!  It's time for this girl to get back to work.  xoxo Katie

Custom Giraffe Order

Custom order for Natalie.  :)  Two cute giraffes made from vintage fabric.  <3

They were a lot of work, but well worth the effort, I do believe.  Happy Friday!

Hello, Sunshine!

Oh, my!  The sun is out 2 days in a row!  I hardly know what to do with myself.  ;)  I am trying to fully enjoy it by opening all of my shades and soaking it in as I sew.  It's been quite the long winter so far, and I'm hoping this weather sticks around for a bit.  I was even woken up by a woodpecker pecking on my house today!  Feels so much like Spring.  :)

Here are some things that top my favorites list this week:

The new Spoon album I got last week

cute prints like this from Bueno Bueno

 Yellow nails to match...

Having fun with my Blythes :)

browsing all of hine's work (it's amazing!)

Girl Scout cookies! (photo source)

Getting organized!

The Office! (but who doesn't love this show?)

I've been at home taking care of my wee one for most of the week, as she's sick with Bronchitis.  Not super fun, but lots and lots of snuggling and sweetness, so that's nice.  I hope your week has been ultra lovely so far (with no sickies!).

(Oh, and that is not my house in the background.  It's a picture from a hotel we stayed in last weekend.)

Until tomorrow...  *loves you and hugs you*Katie

Tuesday is My Monday

I love Mondays for many reasons, so when Tuesdays roll around, I usually feel like that's the day I love the least.  Today was different.  I did some morning sewing, painted my nails yellow, listened to records, and really enjoyed my day.  It was a nice change.

So, I made this comment on Twitter last night about Music Mondays (if you were on, I'm sure you saw it) not being the most fantastic for me, and I had no idea what was coming after that!  So many of you assured me of how much you love Music Mondays and begged me not to quit, and I realized that when I don't see comments I just assume no one is reading or no one likes, but it seems to be untrue.  I need to have more confidence in blogging and just be willing to believe people are there, whether I can see them or not.  ;))  All that said, I WILL still be doing it, at least for a time.  Hopefully that is a good thing.  :)

Isn't my girl lovely?  She had a bit of customization yesterday, and now I'm so in love with her.  Can you help me find a name?  I want something different, but not one that sounds like it's trying too hard.  Know what I mean?  Oh, my goodness!  There have been so many GREAT suggestions.  Can I please give her 20 names?  No?  Okay.  I pick Olive.  It's perfect!  Thanks Kizmo!!!

Anyway, have a super night.  My agenda:  finish hedgehog, custom giraffe, 2 owls, and another snail.  We'll see how it goes.  ;)  *loves*Katie

Music Monday: Bowerbirds

Yay!  It's time for Music Monday again!  Today it's snowy and sleepy,
and I've been listening to Bowerbirds
nonstop on my turntable.  Some bands are seasonal for me.
Fleet Foxes would fall into the cold weather
category, Iron and
Wine is snowy day music, and Death Cab's Plans
(while I listen to it ALL year) makes me
feel like summer.  Bowerbirds is every day of the year music for me.
A lot of you know I play
accordion, so it only makes sense that I have a major soft spot for
the accordion in their music,
but more than that, I adore a band who is every bit as good live as
they are recorded.  Besides
the difference in sound quality, if you heard this band playing live,
you wouldn't be able to tell it
wasn't a studio session.  I love that!

Not to mention, when they aren't touring, they live off the grid in an
airstream trailer.
Can I just please be them?  ;))  I hope you enjoy.  xoxo Katie
